surg23
ZOMFG remember those VOODOO 1 cards? Anyways, in regards to the driver I have to say it really coms down to what card you have. If you have a relatively new and shiny GTX then sure, they'll help, but my Geforce 9700m went from acceptable fps to unplayable on the new drivers. I had to go back to 285.79 to play Skyrim again on my old machine. I never owned a Voodoo card, but i remember my first 3d card, it was a Geforce 2 - MX440 64mb. That card was a beast for it's time. I never realized just how good it was until several generations later and noticed it held it's own with much newer technology. That is a shame about the driver not working for you, hopefully this will change when it's out of Beta. I remember that. It's comparable to an 8800gt. That thing lasted me almost 4 years (still works) and still gets respectable performance out of new games. When I look back on it now, it seems kind of foolish to put a single slot cooler on a 65nm card. Since the 8800gt was one of the first to upgrade from 90nm I guess they were feeling cocky. Definitely agree, the 8800gt was actually the card i just upgraded from. Great little card in my opinion, it served me well for roughly the same time as yours did. But at times i thought it would melt, because it used to run incredibly hot, though from what i have read those chips can withstand very high temperatures. That might explain why they only went with the single slot cooling solution and why they were so cheap. But the tiny little whiny fan used to drive me crazy lol.
