sugargoats
Hello, So the issue I'm having is essentially an infinite loading screen issue, except the screen that wont go away is the hazy green one with all the bits flying around. It normally only appeared for me for a split second right in between the black loading screen and the main menu. I've seen many help threads and videos and such about the black screen (usually involving Trespasser), but I've never seen mention of my green screen problem. I've been through EA help multiple times and they cannot seem to give me advice that fixes the issue. I'm completely at a loss, and don't know what to do at this point. I'll link to a screenshot of what I get stuck on. http://imgur.com/v9FsYUx They have had me clear Origin caches, exclude the game from virus protection programs, run it in compatibility mode, and a couple other things that are honestly escaping my memory right now. I (obviously) had a few mods installed, but after the problem started I disabled them all, but it did not help. I was using the Equal Opportunity Solas mod, Lovely Long Hair for Female Dwarves Elves and Human, and Settrahs Updated Brow Mod (not hosted on Nexus) I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but directly before this loading problem happened I had finished In Your Heart Shall Burn, but with a few snags. It would all be going good until the conversation with Solas after the impromptu choir session. I would get through all that just fine and dandy, but would then be stuck on an infinite white loading screen. The only advice I found that worked was turning my graphic options all to their lowest and disabling all my mods. The game usually runs smoothly for me with medium-high graphic settings, so it was a little puzzling as to why I couldn't push through that loading screen without having everything so low. After I was able to save again, I did that and quit because I needed to go to work. When I got home that same night was when the green load screen issue started up. Not too sure what info is needed about my laptop to properly diagnose this hell of a problem, but I'm running Windows 10 and have the NVIDIA GeForce 920M. If you can help me or can point me in the direction of someone who can, I would really appreciate it!!!
Thandal
Have you tried running in "Windowed" mode, rather than full-screen? Some have reported that fixed their "white-screen before Skyhold" problem, so might work for you too.
sugargoats
I normally play in windowed mode anyway, so I don't think that will affect it!
UhuruNUru
Think your problems root cause, is the white screen bug. Try using this method to fix it, instead of the one you used.First, load the save before the dawn will come song sequence, this is just before you are found by Cassandra, and Cullen, an autosave is made there, or if that's lost, the last manual save before that. Then, quoting my own post, from the White bug threadIn actual fact a clean merge isn't required at allSimply move your mod patch, the "Patch_ModManagerMerge" Folder, outside of the "Update" folder, I move it outside the game folder, to be sure it's not involved.Load the save in vanilla, if it won't load. and claims the save is for newer game version, you need to edit the "package.mft" file in the vanilla patch folder, using a text editor, like notepad, by changing version from 12 to 13, or whatever version is in your mod patches equivalent file.Vanilla File is in "Patch" Folder Name patchAuthoritativeVersion 12Modded File is in "Patch_ModManagerMerge" FolderName patchAuthoritativeVersion 13ModManager v0.59 alphaThe clean merge instructions are for the old merging method, when Vanilla patch was merged with the mods. Now they are always kept seperated, so simply moving the mod folder while getting past this issue is enough, unless the "package.mft" file version needs changing temporarily.Indeed anything that requires a temp Vanilla install, like Character creation using Black Emporium's Mirror, can be done using this simpler method.Saving, as soon as possible, which is in the Skyhold Hall, after talking to Varric, about Hawk. Returning the files to the modded state, prior to the cutscene, is known to work, and should allow you to continue without further issues. Even if your green screen isn't related, redoing this may fix it anyway. Just thought, if your green screen is followed by a cutscene, it may be fixed by doing this at that point, instead, as it's a general method, that fixes several issues. sugargoats
im actually unable to load any save files at all! i never even make it to the opening screen. is there a way i can manually load a save without having to go through the options menu? UhuruNUru
So now you're saying you can't load any earlier saves, as welll as the ones after the Dawn will come cutscene That sounds like a corrupted Vanilla game, so first repair it with Origin, then try to load a save from before the Singing cutscene, without any mods, as I described above.Vanilla game should load those saves, even if you get the bugged ones after it. sugargoats
i've been unable to load anything since the problem began. i do not get far enough into the game loading to do anything at all, since i never get to the options screen. i've been through those steps before, and unfortunately they do not work. i've uninstalled my game entirely now. UhuruNUru
i've been unable to load anything since the problem began. i do not get far enough into the game loading to do anything at all, since i never get to the options screen. i've been through those steps before, and unfortunately they do not work. i've uninstalled my game entirely now.Try reinstalling and, simply starting the game with a fresh install, if you can get to the start menu, then try loading one of the previously working saves, before dawn will come, without mods, as I suggested, they shouldn't be affected by this problem, and should load with vanilla. If that works then add the mods, and try to load the same save, it should also load. This isn't a save loading problem. if the game doesn't even reach the start menu, without modsIf after a fresh install, the issue persists, it's more fundamental, and something on your system is at fault, not the game, or any saves. makkast
locate your profileoption_profile file on your save folder(default:my document/bioware/dragon age inquisition/save) open it with notepad and locate GstRender.TextureQuality if it's value is 0 change it to 1 or higher, this fix my problemin my scenario this is due to change the texture option to very low Edited March 10, 2017 by makkast
