oriondean
I was told by this guy:http://beyondskyrim.org/working-with-dds-files/ that DDS files are a very lossy format, if I want to preserve my files, save them as something else that is lossless and make a copy as a dds to work with. Any suggestions on which format I should use to save the image that is lossless? then make dds copies?
oriondean
How about PNG?
JoKelly
honestly I don't think it matters what format you store them in before converting them to DDs. with that said I usually go for the standard CS2 format that preserves layers and all that (sorry the format name slips my mind at the moment) so if I have to go back and adjust something I don't have to start from scratch. FrankFamily
I use tiff, png is great if there are few colors (big uniform areas)
jet4571
If you are using Photoshop I would use .psd so it keeps all the layers.
