A Mage Focus - Appeal, Weapons, etc.

Hi there,

I don't write on the forums but seeing that some do, even the creators of mods, it wouldn't hurt to relay my ideas to those who could use them:

Level-friendly Craftable Robes

When I began playing through my modded playthrough of Skyrim, I found myself disappointed that I was forced to wear robes that looked like they were found at the bottom of a lake, or they were washed but never dried. I've come to terms with wearing these robes, but not longer. Id like some clothing, or even armor with the enchantments of the robes ranging from Novice to Master. Their is a natural way of doing this by means of enchanting, but even with a filled grand soul, you can't even get close to what a Master Robe of Destruction (ex.) can give. The robes could level based on the material used: Novice Robes of *school* - Leather, Adept Robes of *school* - Dwarven, etc.. This also includes the hoods.

An Alchemy Store

Going from store to store is alright, but sometimes its a real hassle. I go from Markarth's alchemy shop to Falkreath, which is frequently attacked by dragons. Needless to say, I can go through a big ordeal of crap to get my alchemy business done (let alone any business but that's not important right now). I can never find human hearts, know a very few amount of places for Daedra Hearts. Someone bless me with a one stop shop. It doesn't have to have a ridiculous amount of ingredients, just some of everything (5 or so).

Craftable Staffs

I know the Ultimate Mod lets you make these at a Smithy, but that's the only mod that can do that and to be frank, I don't like to install incomplete mods. It would be awesome if someone create custom-made staffs! But that's not required. Something that can make someone invisible for X amount of seconds, turn someone into an apple (hehe), or maybe even dissolve a human target on use (to acquire a human heart or human flesh).

A House Smelter

I got a mod that lets me have a smithy, working bench, and grindstone in my Markarth home, but no smelter! Oh and a tanning rack too. So much useless leg work to get what I need... where's the remote controller!

That's all I got so far. Hope this sparks some ideas.

I can never find human hearts

This made me chuckle. After all, any shopkeeper carrying them is going to be dragged off by the guards. But then it got me thinking that they should be harvestable from Nord/Redguard/Breton/Imperial corpses. It only makes sense.

Hmm those are a lot of good ones.

I could make a mod so that the alchemy shop in the Thieves guild could let you buy human flesh or hearts; since it is kinda like a black market.

On the smelter, i have been planning on making a mod that adds stuff like that to several houses; though if you want a location that has all the smithing stuff Breeze home has smithing place and smelter.

The only thing about crafting the robes is that it might make it kinda easy to get high level robes, since smithing is kinda broken.

However, i don't know if you have done the mages guild all the way through but i have upload some different color versions of the archmage robe; and might be adding colors to the lower robes as well. Also when i have photoshop i can clean the robes of all the dirt.

I like your ideas for the most part though...

Yes... regarding the high leveled thing, I thought about that, and I've come to a decision. Smithing is broken but people use it to level themselves regardless. I found it essential for my mage early game cause without the right perks, the destruction school was draining all the magicka I had no matter of how much work I cut into it. At low level, the robes you can buy/locate are minimal. It took me awhile till I could get my masters robe (I think it was lvl 35) and why I'm a wee bit frustrated is because the enemies around skyrim don't level (I don't think). This limits your movement across the dungeons of Skyrim due to the lack of equipment that can compete with enemies in their respective clusters (fighting a pack of restless and normal Draugr vses fighting a pack of Overlords and a Wight Draugr). Granted, in those situations where you bit off a more than you can chew, you have potions. When you add potions into your standard fighting routine, you investigate to how to stop this because frankly... you shouldn't have to use a potion when fighting. It's a regen problem. This solution leads down the path of Alchemy/Enchanting, which will consume more very necessary perk points. My point is, for the person who's just trying to scrap-by by means of magic, the robes are a make-or-break piece of your apparel.

You make a good point about the Arch Mage robes, but their not acceptable when your playing in the late game. In my case, I find Magic Regen to be essential, even if it adds only 50+% on top at a sacrifice for the cost reduction for all skills.

I am going to let you in on a secret. I went and worked on my smithing so i could enturn work on my enchanting so i could get all the way up to 100 and put 5 in the fist enchanting perk. I went and made to accesories that cut the amount of magic need to cast destuction spells. I can now cast expert high level spells for none or like 19 points.

Overall, Magica regeneration < then Spell Cost Reduction echantments.
