HeirofGryffindor
I'm running Dragon Age Origins Ultimate on Steam. Mods have been installed but not recently, and up until now things have worked smoothly. I went to create a new character and after the character creation the game will crash. There is no exact error code or message, just simply "Dragon Age: Origins has stopped working". It's not Steam that crashes. I tried Awakening, and Awakening runs fine. I think what's causing the game to crash is the opening cinematic; the crash happens no matter if mods are used, male or female, or which Origin. I imported a modded character into Awakening and it also worked fine. I'm running out of ideas. These are the mods that are installed: CC extra tints & tones v. 1.3Compatibility Patches for 0 51-392Cullen Romance Option - Mage OriginMarry Alistair, any OriginExtra Dog Slot v.141More HairstylesPTs Vibrant Colors 1 31-153Alternate Alistair Kiss mod Skip the Fade Tal Storage Chest Updated Chargemorphcfg file Utility sack Those are all 3rd party mods, not official mods, considering I don't think official mods would be mucking up the works. I'm not entirely sure how helpful that list is going to be, considering they're not very specific mod numbers, but I figured I would be as thorough as possible. The only mods that would be interacting much with the character creator (More Hairstyles, PT vibrant colors, etc) were all installed when my first character was created, and it ran smoothly enough to run the character then. System specs are as follows (I'm sure someone is going to ask)------------------System Information------------------Time of this report: 1/11/2012, 18:32:16 Operating System: Windows Vista™ Home Premium (6.0, Build 6002) Service Pack 2 (6002.vistasp2_gdr.110617-0336) Language: English (Regional Setting: English)System Manufacturer: Hewlett-Packard System Model: HP Pavilion 6700 Notebook PC BIOS: Ver 1.00PARTTBL Processor: Intel® Core2 Duo CPU T5750 @ 2.00GHz (2 CPUs), ~2.0GHz Memory: 4086MB RAM Page File: 1889MB used, 6487MB available Windows Dir: C:\Windows DirectX Version: DirectX 11DX Setup Parameters: Not found DxDiag Version: 7.00.6002.18107 32bit Unicode Display Devices--------------- Card name: Mobile Intel® 965 Express Chipset Family Manufacturer: Intel Corporation Chip type: Mobile Intel® 965 Express Chipset Family DAC type: Internal Device Key: Enum\PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2A02&SUBSYS_30CC103C&REV_0C Display Memory: 358 MB Dedicated Memory: 0 MB Shared Memory: 358 MB Current Mode: 1280 x 800 (32 bit) (60Hz) Monitor: Generic PnP Monitor Driver Name: igdumd64.dll Driver Version: 7.14.0010.1437 (English) DDI Version: 9Ex BGRA Supported: YesDriver Attributes: Final Retail Driver Date/Size: 2/11/2008 19:48:34, 4800000 bytes WHQL Logo'd: n/a WHQL Date Stamp: n/aDevice Identifier: {D7B78E66-6942-11CF-1176-C610ADC2CA35} Vendor ID: 0x8086 Device ID: 0x2A02 SubSys ID: 0x30CC103C Revision ID: 0x000C Revision ID: 0x000C Video Accel: ModeMPEG2_A ModeMPEG2_C ModeWMV9_B ModeVC1_B :) Any help would be greatly appreciated; I've tried EVERYTHING I CAN THINK OF. I did this, why don't you try disabling your beginning intro movie or cinematics? You can do that by going into the settings before even opening the game and setting it there. It'll have a setting in video and in graphics I believe. It's been a while for me. Plus, it saves you more memory usage too.
