bben46
\Steam\Steamapps\common\skyrim\\TESV.exe failed (5)." Am i missing something here?Look at the highlighted part of this - notice the double \\? That should be a single \ PLUS, you do not run TESV.exe if you want to run SKSE ( Please read the readme as that tells you everything you need to know)If you can't find it, a copy is included in the zipped skse file you download, and a video instruction - If you are having trouble with the installation instructions, please watch this video. jasminagamer
I know there is the double //. I dont even know why its there :/. Its not like i added it there. Dont even know how u can do that if its even possible. I showed a pic of what happens when i try to run the SKSE. And added the TESV.exe as a side note to show the game wont work att all after i have the SKSE.(cuz its a possibility its related? that i dont have access to the game the normal way as soon i got the SKSE?) And as i mentioned before, i have tried several ways. One of them following the read me. Same result as i showed on pic. and i know u dont need to run TESV.exe if u wanna use SKSE. Im well awere that i need to use the SKSE launcher for having the SKSE active. But i cant even start my skyrim the way trough Stream or trough the skyrim launcher even. As i mentioned. For me to even be able to play the game i need to go trough TESV.exe which, when i get the SKSE somehow currupts it? and i do not have permission for it anymore as u could see on the second pic i previously provided. Edit: I do wanna mention that i have followed what he done on that video as well. Still getting same result. Thats why im trying to ask for help. Cuz i really have no clue what to do anymore to get it working. I have tried all i have found on the internet. And ppl whit my issue have not got the help they needed. Mostly not even got any reply, so i do wanna say that i appreciate that u are actually replying me and trying to help me out. I have been trying to figure it out for 2-3 days now. Not really been able to play the game knowing that whenever i try it i end up ruining the whole installed game and need to reinstalle it all over again ect. Which is really depressing. Cuz on videos i seen and such. Having this working whit mod's that require it would make the skyrim game so much more enjoyable. So i really am hoping for someone being able to find a solution for this. And wanna know if i perhaps am missing something that i am not awere of? I dunno if its gonna help anything or not. But here is my skyrim folder on my computerhttp://i.imgur.com/qdrYbH0.jpg?1 Edited May 4, 2015 by jasminagamer
PonceMonster
I was having trouble getting into this again but it was actually pretty easy... apparently some files are hidden, specifically the TES5.exe, well not specifically, I should say. You have to uncheck Hide extensions for known file types in your folder options, and then as for exe files and dll files, he means to copy paste the loader and the two main dll files. There is only one exe file and that is the loader or launcher, and the two dll files are already unzipped, you just have to paste it into the skyrim folder. After that's done, you can go ahead and put the extracted file into the data files if you'd like, because it won't be of any use then... and of course use the readme if you hadn't already. This is just speaking on some things that you would probably have missed. And if you're curious about the readme, you just use steps 1-3 and once all of that is done, you should have it running by then. Crazyd5555
I found a solution that worked for me but it might have been because i drank or something because it is really stupid but worked. So skse could find tesv.exe even though they were litteraly one next to the other in the same folder. After 2 days of trying to fix this i discovered that the tesv.exe file was actually called tesv.exe.exe so i renamed the file tesv and it worked. This is all because windows by default hides the type of certain files. So doing what the README told to made me do this. At least now i can finally play with my mods! ^_^
EdReis
I have a similar problem but the error is not related to SKSE, I can use SKSE_loader to load the game normally. It is the NMM that is unable to find TESV.exe. I have already reinstalled it but it's still not working. I think it maybe caused by one of the mod I installed, since it worked before. What I wanna know is if there is a way to fix the problem without having reinstal (again) and try to guess wich mode not to install.
Bunderwahl
Please dont respond with stupid responces like "Read the instructions" or "watch the video"... i have, done both, multiple times. It is installed correctly in the correct fplder and STILL get the "Can not find TESV.exe." That last "." may be a clue or may just be the end of the sentence.. there is a problem with either SKSE64. one of the mods. or changes in Skyrim.. note also it says SKSE64 is early alpha... XSteelKnight
Its simple on vortex I got this problem it appears that the start in and the Target was set to data files, instead of the one where Tesv.exe was located. Just Edit the skse in Vortex (In Dashbord and click on the three vertical dots then edit) where Skyrm folder directory is in (start in) and set (target) to the Skse.exe in that directory. Aparnetly vortex was targeting another skse.exe in the data folder, probably becuse i copied the skse files there to by accident. Steam Or Vortex automatically selected that one instead of the other one in the skyrm folder, for safety deleting the one in your data folder (if so this case) would be a good idea. Ps. Just in case Make sure your Tesv.exe has a letters capitalize(Like athis[TESV.exe]), some game or programs get very picky when it comes to. The exact name in its trageting parimeters.
