An idea for a potential New Vegas mod...

(I'm so glad there's a sub forum for this...)

For the past five months I've been looking for ways to get into voice acting, possibly starting with Fallout mods on this site, and I'm really close to buying an expensive microphone that will allow me to record high quality audio takes for dialogue. Recently a friend and I were discussing a wide arrange of ideas I could use for my eventual voice audition, and those discussions led to entire mod ideas. Some were just based on personal preferences and some were mostly jokes that we'd like to see, but after a while I hit upon a mod idea that really seems like it could be something special if done properly. I have no modding experience or interest in learning how to make my own mods, but I'm really hoping others who do have modding experience will find this idea intriguing enough that they would be willing to put in the time to make this mod happen. Since I have no idea how to pitch this I'm going to copy my notes from the text file to explain what I would like to see from this fantasy mod.

...start with the courier exploring in the northern area of the map where the scrap cars are arranged. Begin the mod with quiet audio of a nuke going off and have the start quest dialogue begin that says you should investigate further to see if there's some sort of threat to New Vegas (or something that makes better sense, maybe just have a prospector chase you down and tell you about the nuke going off and how you need to investigate). Upon arriving you find the area is now slightly irradiated and you find a number of Fiend and Brahmin corpses piled on top of car doors near where the cars used to be located (note that the cars must now be gone and the path to the hilly area is now open, maybe introduce a sandstorm in the area to prevent any further exploration of the game boundaries). After closer inspection you discover the brahmins loaded with mini nukes and other weapons, and you find a note on one of the fiends that details a plan for an attack on the Strip that failed miserably before it could even begin. After searching in the area past the scrap cars you find some signs that lead you to an underground bunker. Once inside you walk down a long hallway for a few minutes and after a while you hear a gunshot and feel a slight pain in your neck. You ignore it and continue and after another minute you start to grow weary and a cutscene begins, where a dark figure is following you and you begin to run and continue to look back. After reaching a dead end you finally start to pass out and as you fade, the figure crouches down and stares at you as other people fill the room.

After a short intro video showing off the mod you start to wake up in a prison cell filled with corpses (too similar to the Alton, Il mod? Maybe something different). You see a man in reinforced combat armor and a fiend helmet staring at you and he tells you you're going to be a drug runner for him or you're going to die. He leaves and sends a guard in to inform you what your duties will be. The guard shows up and after some discussion he cuts off and a frag grenade goes off near the door. He starts shooting but is decapitated by a machete held by a blonde haired man in a cowboy hat and bounty hunter duster (maybe unique outfit for the mod). He introduces himself as Henry Smith and says you're currently in Death Valley, where raiders have taken over the vaults and the remnants of Death Valley Junction and have used the area as their drug haven. You're surrounded by fiends and raiders and the only way to get out is to hack and slash your way out through the multitudes of their group. Later dialogue with Henry reveals he dedicated himself to ridding the world of their kind when one of their men kidnapped his wife and forced her to manufacture chems, and only released her when she became addicted to drugs and wanted to come back and steal everything Henry had, and she was so far gone that he had no choice but to put her out of her misery. He says he'll help you find your way back to the Mojave but only if you will help him exact his revenge on the group.

For the rest...Idk. For good karma you can help the guy and find the four fiend mini bosses and one final main boss and end their operation, or for bad karma you can secretly help the fiends behind Henry's back and slowly kill Henry with chems as a sign of loyalty to the fiend kingpin. I'd really like the mod (and most of the setting, buildings, and general atmosphere) to be based on The Pitt from Fallout 3, where the choices you make during the mod are morally grey, and I think dealing with drugs and addicts would be a great starting point for that. What Henry's/the fiend's reasons would be...I'm not entirely sure.

One of the highlights could be new chems brewed by Henry or the Fiends that introduce short perks. They are still chems that you can get addicted to but they're better than regular chems, and would offer things such as higher criticals, slow motion speed, higher damage resistance, and other perks.

I chose the location based on how close it is to Las Vegas IRL, and honestly, doesn't the name alone just sound perfect for a Fallout Mod? "Death Valley". I'd really like to know what you all think about this, and how likely it is this mod could ever happen.

hmm well a few mods in the works deal with death valley....check around and see where you might consider doing it other than there and remember that many "old world" names have been dropped/changed over time so your area could be named just about anything no matter what it's name now is. Other than that sounds really cool.

Hm...indeed it is...maybe it could be changed to where they didn't kidnap the guy's wife, but instead got her addicted to Jet or something and he fought them off as much as he could but he eventually had to kill his own wife.

So Death Valley has already been dealt with huh...that's a shame, it seemed so perfect. I also thought setting it in Salt Lake City so the Fiends/Raiders in the mod could be the 80s but SLC seems a bit too close to Zion National Park, and Idk if another mod set in Utah would work or not. It could also fit though, since SLC would be in the general direction of that northern path where the cars are. Death Valley just seemed like it could work out so great with that kind of backstory.
