Broken quest / cant get into mzfult

Hi I am on my second game of skyrim, as I rage quit my first at lvl 37 due to so many quests breaking and I was tired of console commanding my way through them.

Well, at lvl 12 or so my second game is even worse. I have s*** breaking all over the place.

Anyway, the college of winterhold staff of magnus quest where u enter mzfult, theres supposed to be an injured npc just inside, that youre supposed to get a key to the dungeon from....well hes not there. Of course again the only thing I could think of was to advance myself to the next step in the quest via console, which worked, but I still had no key and no way to enter the dungeon. This officially now currently breaks this game for me as I have no wish to continue if I cant enter this dungeon, if I remember correctly there is a word wall in this one.

Ive tried to see if theres a command to actually obtain that key, or summon the npc via console, have found similar commands but not exactly what i need.

Btw I am currently running idk around 25 mods, and I am supposing 1 or several of these mods are whats breaking all these quests. A buddy of mine did some research and said that apparently my "true darker dungeons" mod was apparently breaking some side quests. Ive tried removing the mod but it dodnt do anything because Im sure the mod would have to have been removed before I started the chain for it not to affect the quest.

Besides the true darker dungeons mod does anyone know of any other mods or types of mods that might be affecting these quests?

Any tips are greatly appreciated as Im completely out of ideas atm thx.

Any mod that alters a world space that a quest object is contained in but doesn't include copied references to the NPC or container where the player gets that item will cause problems like you're having. Hence that darker dungeons mod breaks a ton of quests (not just side quests). Removing light sources (like this mod) adding a tree, anything. You could theoretically repair Darker Dungeons but it would probably take a lot of work going through the worldspaces in Skyrim.esm and copying the references to anything that grants an item as part of a quest into the Darker Dungeons plugin. These unmodified copied references have historically been known as "Dirty Edits"and were both unneeded and considered lazy modding. This specific problem is new to Skyrim. Without paying careful attention to your load order, having these unmodified references in plugins, has the potential to cause all kinds of problems.

To add this key to your character, you should be able to look through the item lists (available here on the Nexus) and find the Mzulft Key you're missing. Then you'd just open the console and type in player.additem #RefID#1 to add one of those to your character. Replace #RefID# with the number listed for it in the item lists.

Skyrim Item ID list is an Excel document, and I believe it contains absolutely everything.

According to it, the key's ID is: 0005dcb9

And the Observatory key is: 00057b66 (You may or may not get this when you get to it)

There's also a "Mzulft Room Key" with the ID: 000401f4 but I believe it's unrelated.

Fun Fact: I've actually had the guy be where he's supposed to be but he didn't actually die when he was supposed to. He just sat there and made rude comments as I, a baffled Breton sneak archer, attempted to loot his body. Reloading before entering the door fixed it. This was definitely not a mod issue as I run very few plugins and all of them only affect the player.

That is a link o_O

You'll need some kind of program to view it. I use OpenOffice as it's a free alternative with full compatibility for Windows production software, but as the file's description page states, MS Excel or MS Works should be fine.

I'm pretty confident that the author is aware of his mod breaking quests by now (people have been posting about this for threeish weeks now) and the fix is somewhat common knowledge. Hopefully he will get it fixed though.
