TheDestroyerOfDreams
I'm shocked there isn't more people who have talked about this, it's just devastating to me... to the point of almost not wanting to finish the game meow if it weren't for seeing how her involvement in all this pans out. Game is worlds better than da2 for me at least, but for cereal... Meow, i don't want any spoilers but i heard at the end of the game you may get her in your party or something? If that's the case is their a possibility of in some way having her in my party all the time? I don't even give a s#*! if i can't customize anything like skills, gear, or tacts on her, just so long as she's in the party.plz help T.T
UhuruNUru
You heard wrong, she accompanies your party, for some missions, much like Leliana, in the initial rift closure, but is never a controllable charaxter. A few others do this as well.Nevertheless, though gameplay is to much of a MMO style for my liking, the story is worth putting up with it, and mods can alleviate much of the main annoyances, if it gets to much. Modding this game was never easy, and nobodies found a way to add, or swap companions, though. Apart from the initial 3, most can be completelly avioded, only Dorian is forced on you, for one mission. Cole makes a forced entry, but only for cutscenes, so also can't be avoided. You get only one choice to accept or reject each one. but rejects still appear in the squad selection screen, where avoided ones, do not get in the way like that. For some reason, Sara is the only one you can ask to leave, at any time, which makes me wonder why that is so,Some others can leave, if you annoy them enough, but not Varric, or Cassandra. TheDestroyerOfDreams
You made allot of interesting points i never noticed.I actually find Sara quite funny, and her jokes are the only thing that kept me goin on the hunt for Morrg. So do you think there is a possibility i could completely have say Vivine's textures swapped out with Morrg's?or if not doable i would even take swaping textures out with dorian, tho that would present more conflictions like voice weirness... I know it seems trivial, but i'll probably take a break from dai for a while, and get da fill from the original for a bit if i can't find a way to resolve this xD Those bastards, why would they not make her recruit-able?after the level of f*#@ing with my feels they did in 2... with the only reference to her was Flemith being like "that's not important right now" when you ask about Morg, or some such nonsense like that. T.T Actually shocked i haven't located more cases of nerds whining about this.super sad stuff.
Thandal
The Morrigan DAI storyline is highly engaging (for us full-on DOA Morrimancers, at least) but no, she is not a full party member and you can never control her. (Which, in my opinion, is totally appropriate.) The plot takes lots of interesting twists, and Ms. Black does her usual superb job of bringing the character to life, so cinch your girth strap and enjoy the ride!
UhuruNUru
As Thandal says, experience the story that's told, first, before you mess with it, it might explain why nobodies "whined", once they know what she does. No mods, currently exist that change the companions, other than cosmetic ones, so it may be possible to alter a female to resemble Morrigan, but I doubt it.A quick look at what's available, shows textures, and hair changes, but the underlying structures, appears unchanged. Generally, if it could be done easily, it will already have been done, so it's obviously not easy, but little is when making mods for DAI.There are strict limits on what's currently possible, but when the new version of the mod maker is released, and it's still being made, more options will exist. All the knowledge is hard won, the Frostbite engine has to be reverse engineered, from the raw machine code, that's not easy. It took weeks before we could even recolour the awful pajamas, and months of hard work to get textures changed at all, the following, explains the issues. Quoting the old DAITools pageGame released 18th November, 2014, and DAITools Uploaded 19th December 2014Want to change that pajamas you are forced to use on Skyhold ? Give hair to Solas ? Make Leliana red headead again ? Here we discuss what we know so far and we even have a tool to view the game assets files (CAS) and the game save files (DAS), courtesy of Warranty Voider (ME3 modding tools) and Ehamloptiran (Skyrim, Bioshock modding tools), wogoodes and others who did many mods for games. Dan and Zenthar have done the latest mod manager and mod tools, using the code from Eham and Voider. The goal is to make a Creation Kit like Skyrim's to allow modders to change game assests. Will we get there ? Stay tuned. For now the tools we have are just viewing and exporting, not importing or modding. import on version 37!! But Ehamloptiran is working on a texture and mesh replacer tool with some success and he has just released a texture import as a standalone beta tool for experienced modders on 12/15. Modders Silvist and Kiitosu were gracious enough to offer a texture for the dreaded skyhold jammies. Red for female quizzy done by Silvist, white and black for male quizzy done by Kiitosu.May 5th 2015 Update: Mods can change textures, assets and mesh can be edited, as long as the new mesh has the same number of vertices, rigged in the same order (painful I know!!!). In plain english this means hair mods are possible and we have already 2 available!!! But they are very hard work for modders, they basically have to do it moving each little strand of hair, one at a time. Adela and Skaramoosh were brave enough to do it and they have hair mods available for download at our forum. No one else has had the time and patience to mod any other mesh but in theory you could see new weapons and armor mods soon. We can also delete mesh - make solas hat at halamshiral disappear, or take Blackwall's beard off. Alas we can't ADD mesh yet so new hair for Solas, or other more involved mesh modding is still impossible. So most of us had already played the game, at least once, before any, real modding had even started, other than colour changes.Mass Effect Andromeda modding, will benefit from what we've learned in DAI, and having two BioWare Frosbite games, should help mod both of them. That the mod user experience, is so easy, and relatively pain free, for what can be done, is due to a lot of hard coding work, by a small group of dedicated fans.Be thankful for that, it's more than EA expected us to have. Whether they actively tried to block modding, is unknown, but many suspect it. Patches often broke the tools, but that could happen unintentionally, as well. They certainly, made no attempt to avoid it.
TheDestroyerOfDreams
i see, thankyou so much for being so incredibly informative.I had planned on playing the game at least once through before researching mods, but then after realizing you couldn't have her in party i was just like wtf..... You guys inspired me not to drop the game completely since you say her involvement is pretty fantastic xDi played about 50+hours in 3 days....I think i'll take a break, enjoy some dao if need be, but will eventually come back to finish dai's story since you guys say it's pretty good. Also before i do that i'll poke my head into a couple places and see how far along these mod tools are, maybe if i get lucky when i pick it back up she can actually be in my party. ;3 ty again man.
