Ghosts of the dead

This just occurred to me. It could be interesting to make a mod that gives you a small chance (say 5-10%) of seeing the ghost of a dead NPC when you return to their home or the place of their death. All you'd really need to do is replace all their dialogue with a generic ghostly moan. AI could stay the same; after all, in most lore ghosts generally repeat the patterns they followed when they were alive. It could be an interesting way to keep the memory of dead NPCs alive, and to add some more substance to towns and villages.

 

Is there any interest in this?

Another cool idea would be to make it so only the player can actually recognize the presence, sort of a way of 'haunting' the killer. Obviously, it'd technically be visible to other NPCs, but make it so NPCs don't even interact with the ghost in any way, not even looking at them. This would give the feeling that since the player killed them, only the player can see them.

That's a cool idea; mechanically, it would probably require a new script to allow the actor to record and remember who killed them, but it should be possible. It would open the door for more hostile/poltergeist-y encounters, which would be great.

I like this idea...the ghosts of DB contracts {although they seem to re-appear}...hopefully someone will clean that up.

 

Perhaps the ghosts could be a different color {so as not to confuse} or so as to know that it was a "killing" that the player done and not something else like a quest ghost etc. tc.
