Editing NPC Inventory

I am wondering if there is a mod or if it is otherwise possible to edit an NPC's inventory. Simply put, it is absurd that I would spend money and time in the game to make my companions nice armor only to find they won't put it on in favor of their vanilla gear.

Unless you change the default outfit in the NPC record, they will always wear their default clothing/armor if it is better than what you are trying to make them wear.

Example:

Lydia has a default steel armor with 35 armor rating. You give light armor with 16 rating, she will never use it because it is worse than her default.

I am not sure but actual armor skill may affect whether an NPC uses any specific type of armor, again, because it is not statistically better than default.

You can use the NPC Edit (if you want to make an esp for each and every edit you make) or SkyEdit (recommended) to change the default outfit for specific NPCs. You will need to change the default outfit to something plain clothing wise if you want them to wear the specific armor you give them.

Try this mod, it will change the default armor to a carried item and can be removed and replaced by a lesser armor.
