G.e.c.k. door marker not showing up?

I'm working on an house in geck , It's shaping up pretty fast , I'm following this tutorial: http://geck.bethsoft.com/index.php/Bethsoft_Tutorial_Finalize_and_Connect

At a certain point you're going to connect your house to the wasteland .. I have an outside door and inside door to be connected. But then I double click my (inside) door, tick 'teleport' and after that press 'Select Reference in Render Window" followed by double clicking my door with the red cross. But no marker shows up at all .. I tried pressing M (like it said in the tut) I can see the blue guys showing up and dissapearing on the couch indicating that the M button does what it's suppose to do .. but no marker.

Anyone know how to fix this or what I might be doing wrong?

If you close the details for the door and then open them back up, does it now have a teleport reference listed? When you double clicked the other door (the outer door?) with the red cross, if it was still red when you clicked then there could something wrong with the door, it should turn white if it's over a valid reference.

No It doesnt have a teleporter reference I believe, and I didnt see it turn white. So what could be wrong with the door? I'll try using another door to see if that fixes the problem.

*Edit* Just checked.. it doesn't have a teleporter reference when I click it again, it also turns back to the reference menu when double clicking with the red cross (instead of turning into a white one)

I've tried using another door nothing either. I go to world objects -> doors and I've tried using suburban interior door and traquilltylanedoor. I even tried duplicating a default door ingame (from another house) still I can't seem to get it to work.

hang on, just noticed something... not sure if this is it but, you've tried all these doors in the interior cell?

is it the interior door you've double clicked on to bring up the reference window with the 'select reference in render window' button on it?

if so, which door did you click with the red cross?

I've tried the interior door mostly yes, because I followed the tutorial to the letter. I used the tranquilitylanedoor and suburbaninteriordoor, but when I got neither of them working.. I tried doing it on an exterior door (in the wasteland) I'm working on a house in andale and It didnt work either. I then tried as I said before duplicating a door from the neighbours house and even then it couldn't get the reference right (still remained a red cross and when double clicking returned to the reference menu).

Yes because otherwise the teleport option wouldn't even show up (at least not as the first thing you see). I'll try again though .. just to be sure`

Well I tried it over and over on the same door.. on other doors, I can't figure out what the problem is

That's the problem.

A door can't be set as a reference for itself, you need 2 doors to make a teleport work.

Try this, open the reference window for the inner door, then go to wherever the outer door is.

With the inner door's window still open, click to select the teleport reference and when the red cross shows up click the outer door.

Alternatively you could find the outer door manually using the 2 drop down boxes in the teleport tab.

I just tried it via the dropdown box.. works exellent in the program, I got two doormarkers both places in the right spot. But here's the next problem when I try it out ingame.. the wasteland door is there but I can only press open and close (without the door doing anything) when I check out geck and reopen the files to see what's wrong, I get this error:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

MASTERFILE: Errors were encountered during Inititem for reference:

Base: 'TranquilityLaneDoor01' (0003C81E)

Ref: '' (02000EA6)

Cell: 'AndaleNW' (000011AB) (-5. -17) in world 'Wasteland' (0000003C)

See warnings file for information

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So what I understand from this that there's still an error in the reference, here's what I did:

- Go to the wasteland, place a door , open up the reference window and tick teleport

- Then I went to the interior I made, double clicked the door and ticked teleport, then used the dropdown box to select AndaleNW (-5, -17)

- a door marker appeared, I positioned it correctly and then followed it outside.. the outside marker was close to the door I placed only upside down so I positioned it correctly, then checked the door to see if the teleport option was correct (it was.. it teleported to 'home' the name I gave for my house)

I haven't navmeshed the house yet because I first wanted to try out if I can get it connected to the wasteland.. I can get there via COC though for now. Could that be the problem or does navmesh have nothing to do with this? (I figured that since I'm able to walk around the house normally through COC without navmesh.. the problem doesnt lay there).

Thanks for your help so far (+1  )

If I'm reading this right, you opened up the wasteland door, ticked teleport, then closed the window?

It's been a while since I made a teleport door so I'm not 100% on this but I think It would have worked if you'd put that door in the wasteland and then gone directly to the interior cell without opening it up. I think when you set door A to teleport to door B, the GECK automatically adds the return teleport, but by clicking teleport on the wasteland door and not supplying a reference, you've stopped that from happening. As I say, I'm not 100% sure on that, but it looks like that's what went wrong.

Try this...

Make 2 doors in your interor cell, it doesn't matter where, these are just for practice. It's usefull if you can see both at once though

Click the 1st door,

click teleport,

click select reference, a red cross appears

with the red cross, double click the 2nd door.

The 2nd door's reference window should not have been opened at any point yet.

Now, position the markers so they aren't halfway inside the doors, then look at the properties of each door, does each contain a reference to the other in the teleport tab?

Now coc into the cell in the game by opening the console and typing coc followed by a space and the name of the cell, try opening one of the doors, does it take you to the other? does it work both ways?

If it works, try it again, except using a manual reference selection through the drop down lists. If that works, delete the doors you're having problems with and try again using the procedure you've just used for the practice doors.

It seems like you're getting close anyway, good luck.
