mcchuggernaut
I made this mod yesterday:http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/7634/?tab=1&navtag=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Fskyrimspecialedition%2Fajax%2Fmoddescription%2F%3Fid%3D7634%26preview%3D&pUp=1 I think it came out really good, but: I had someone comment asking what resolution my texture was. I was under the impression that you cannot increase the quality of a texture, only decrease it, or find another texture that was made at a higher resolution. So is it actually possible to increase the quality of vanilla textures somehow? I would love to make 2k and 4k versions of this, but don't know if it can be done, and if it can, by what process?Any help from those more experienced than myself would be appreciated! jones177
Hi When I need to expand a map & add detail , I bring it into a 3D program & map it onto a plain. I then create an elevation map in PhotoShop with the original texture & add it to the plain as well. If I don't get the desired result I basic try different types of mapping until I get that I want. I then render the map at 8k plus using different focal lengths on the 3d camera to enhance the results.I then render the map I made in 3DMax in an old raytracer called Imagine. I think you can get it for free. Ray Tracers handle image maps definitely & the old ones do a better job at adding detail(NVIDIA's mental ray is not good at this). After it gets traced it goes to Photoshop for reduction & tweaking. It sounds like a lot but the experimenting takes longer than the rendering. Since you are already into tweaking maps the next step is doing 3D & simple projects like this are a good way to start. Later
