BINGDAKING
Hey everyone, I have ran into an odd issue that I can't seem to find replicated by anyone else on the internet. I just bought Fallout NV Ultimate Edition for the PC. I installed it successfully from the disc. When I open the launcher, it functions as it should with the music in the background. I also have audio by the time the main menu loads. Whenever I load a game, the loading screen with the roulette wheel has no audio and this screen will freeze for one to two seconds (as evidenced by the ball in the roulette wheel stopping). My screen will then go black for a few seconds, and the game will load. I have no audio at this point and there is severe lag. I have tried:-Updating drivers for GPU-Using Yukichigai Unofficial New Vegas patch from the Nexus-Verifying integrity of game cache-Restarting PC-Reinstalling game-Manipulating the ini file to make it run more than single core (the game claims to be optimized for multi-core but it was just something I haven't tried)-Dropped the graphic settings from Ultra to Medium with no change I am at a loss at this point, because I can't seem to find someone else that has had this issue before. My specs are: -GeForce GTX 1060 3 GB-Intel® Core i5-6400 CPU @ 2.70 GHz-7.95 GB RAM-1920 x 1080, 60 Hz Display Other than the unofficial patch attempt, I am using no mods so my load order is:1. Fallout NV.esm2. CaravanPack.esm3. ClassicPack.esm4. MercenaryPack.esm5. DeadMoney.esm6. HonestHearts.esm7. OldWorldBlues.esm8. LonesomeRoad.esm9. GunRunnersArsenal.esm10. TribalPack.esm I would greatly appreciate any help that anyone can provide. If I am missing any information that you might need, then please ask. Thanks again,Bing
dubiousintent
The audio cutting out suggests you have a DirectX problem, which can be part of the lag issue. Which version of Windows are you running? Have you run the DXDiag utility? Have you updated your sound drivers and mouse drivers as well? (Video, sound, and mouse are all interrelated.) Suggest you read the "FNV General Mod Use Advice" wiki article and implement the first two other community fixes (NVSR and NVAC) in the "Towards Game stability" section. If that doesn't solve the problem, take a look at the "Solutions to Performance Problems" section of the "Fallout NV Mod Conflict Troubleshooting" guide. -Dubious-
BINGDAKING
I have Windows 10 but I'm at work right now, so I'll get the rest of the info and try those things around 2-3pm EST today. I have not used that utility either. Thanks a lot, I'll keep you updated! Edited January 22, 2017 by BINGDAKING
BINGDAKING
So just as a quick update. I have DXDiag utility. It did not reveal any issues. I have also checked to make sure the sound, video, and mouse drivers are all up to date. I am working on using NVSR and NVAC now. Will consult the Solutions to Performance Problems guide if they don't improve the problem. This info is from the DXDiag. I am not sure if it would be useful to you or anyone else, but I'll just post it for the time being.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Operating System: Windows 10 Home 64-bit Language: English (Regional Setting: English) System Manufacturer: Micro-Star International Co., Ltd. I just read that there may be an issue with Windows 10 and the game. Apparently some people can't run it period, while others claim it works fine. I tried running the NVSE as administrator and set to compatibility mode with windows 7, and it actually made it lag probably twice as more before. I verified game cache again and one 600 kb file needed replaced, tried launching after that with no change. Am I just doomed because of Windows 10 or am I missing something? dubiousintent
While Win10 comes with DirectX12 installed and is backwards compatible with older DX versions, older games do not know that and are looking for specific versions of DX library files (i.e. d3d9_32.dll) and not finding them. So you need to install the "DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010)" as well, which is compatible with Win 8.1+. (Games that used DX7 and 8 are murky territory. Many will run on OS's newer than XP, but may require fixes/tweaks. Always use the latest available "runtime" versions of those DX libraries.) Note that you need the 32-bit version for 32-bit games. I always download both the 32-bit and the 64-bit versions of any libraries I manually install, so I am covered either way. (There is a reason they published a version for both 32-bit and 64-bit. They are not "interchangeable", and are separate installs going into different locations.) Some games try to install an older version they come bundled with. Those versions may not be compatible with the later versions of Windows, which is why you should manually install the one you know is compatible. Then those games will see that DX version is already installed and not try to install their bundled version. - When the DX installer asks where to install the files to, you choose any folder you like, but I generally have it unpack (DirectX does not actually get installed at this point. The files are only 'unpacked' from an archive) the files to a folder on my desktop or one I have dedicated to that purpose in my Downloads folder, because this folder can be deleted or emptied after the final install is done.- Once the files are unpacked to this folder you open the folder and locate DXSETUP.exe. Run this installer (as an Administrator) to finalize the DirectX re-installation.- When the installer is finished delete this folder.- Each game uses a specific DX file, or files, (e.g. d3dx9_32). A newer game may use two DX files (e.g. d3dx9_42 and d3dx10_42). [see the MS article "How to make Win10 run DirectX 9.0" where I got much of this information for more details.] (Sometimes it helps to run the installer in "compatibility mode" for XP-SP3.) There should be a separate DXDiag for DX9 in the folder where it is installed. Check the "DirectX" version information in the "System" display. Run each of those tests again as well. Don't get discouraged. You most likely can get the game to run with Win10. However, because your multi-core CPU runs at 2.7GHz, and the game is 32-bit so it primarily runs on only one core, do not expect the same level of performance you might experience with newer, multi-threaded games. Which means you need to start out slowly and scale back your ambitions. There WILL be limits to the number of mods (and texture replacements) you can use. -Dubious- Edited January 23, 2017 by dubiousintent
BINGDAKING
Okay I think I follow all of that. Thank you! To someone that doesn't know a lot about the differences between OS', you have explained this very well so far. I'll keep you posted on new developments. -Bing ******************************************************************UPDATE No dice unfortunately. Using the DXDiag utility is still showing no issues as well. There has been no change in the problem....there is something I am missing. No reason why some people can get it to work on Windows 10 and others can't. I'm going to keep troubleshooting and see what I find. If I get a fix, I will definitely let you know. Thank you for all the help again! I really appreciate it! Edited January 23, 2017 by BINGDAKING

BINGDAKING
I have a 1 TB HDD (my D Drive) and a SSD (my C drive) that I think is 126 GB (not home right now so I can't look). But I have steam installed on the HDD in its own folder. So if memory serves me right it's like this... D-->STEAM-->steamapps-->common-->FalloutNVDownload dependency walker (http://www.dependencywalker.com/) Please use the32bit version for this game, once installed, run it on the games engine. Look for red flags "missing assets" if you find them or it show them "missing" please screen shoot that program and post it's image here for me to see.It might be "still" a UAC issue from the install point so some items windows 10 has been blacklisted. That means no matter what, some files get deleted immediately and the setup program has no way to know it was done. Now, if your graphics card is an intel design? well, that the reason it will not run. there is a graphics dll file here you can drop into the games main folder that will allow it to run. The location is Ideal so that's not the issue, it's something "missing" either by default or blacklisted. A black listed issue can be worked around by installing the games software under admin mode, boot into basic and install it. Word of warning, all home editions shall be rendered null and void soon, Microsoft is now Eliminating Original released windows 10 content "on purpose". be ready.
