Oblivion - broken?

Alright I installed OOO (the cats and rats version, i just replaced the .esp) and heres what happens:

everything works fine, then my oblivion starts crashing.

i reinstalled a few times, didnt work.

i made a new character, surprisingly it worked fine.

i did a system restore, didnt work, yet oblivion was all messed up so i reinstalled.

i downloaded a different no cd crack, it worked! yipee.

But wtf, my texture is broken? the problem i had with OOO is that some textures didnt display when it's objects were in use. but now everthing seems to work fine except for the ground texture (like the one you see in waterfront house area). The ground texture got replaced by a weird small purplish texture of the actual tamriel map (...wtf.).

yeah weird. Also I get a bug where NPC freeze and i have to walk up to them to make them move. It happened before but i deactivated a mod and it worked, but now its all stuck on weird.

Ill shoow a video and some screens tomorrow, but perhaps with this info some of you will have an idea of what the problem could be? my oblivion is currently stuck on stupid, i just wanna fix it and quit getting mods.

heres the full list of mods i have:

-Actors in Charge

-Akatosh mount by Saiden Storm

-Deadly Reflex (all .esps activated)

-Hashashin Armor (DMACArmor)

-Ranger armor (DMRangerArmor)

-Get wet v0.9

-JTICTunnel (waterfront-->temple disctrinct tunnel)

-Natural Habitat, water and weather (by max Tael)

-Oblivion Citadel Door fix (not sure where i got that from, i dont even know what it is, probably was included in one of the mods i guess)

-OblivionOnline

-OOO (Cats&Rats version)

-PureSteelBlade

-Ren's Guard Overhaul

-SlowFilmUtility

-Sonia companion

-TSS Custom Companion (not sure what it is, it says its for modders, which im not.)

-Share Faction (or whatever its called, its a companion system where you can get NPCs to be your companions. I dont think i have it working properly though because when i made a new char a message popped up asking me to select a key id use for commanding and also added a "leadership journal" meanwhile on my regular save those never popped up, even though the mod seems to work fine)

-Unofficial Oblivion Patch.

Yeah thats it. I hope you guys can help.

:thanks: !!!

The citadel door fix is included in an oblivion patch, but I ran both for a while with no problem. If I remember, it was just a sound file playing out of sync with the action.

Oblivion Online is considered a little unstable. But I haven't checked out the latest.

Some of the no CD cracks have bugs that can cause unexpected results with some mods.

The purple ground tex is discussed in a lot of posts with several possible fixes, usually a complete reinstall is called for.

If you got the messages to select a command key and got the leadership journal, then that mod is working.

I see deadly reflex in a lot of lists where they have problems. I don't use it so I can't offer any other advice on it.

You don't say, but I assume you are using OBSE because it is required for some of your mods. I also recommend OBMM for better control over which mods are currently active.

I'll wait for your post update to make any more concrete suggestions.

I reinstalled today morning (before i read your reply) and it worked, even though it didnt make any sesne. Hellz yeah finally went into an oblivion gate and got all this rich stuff, that was fun. But thanks for the reply anyway. Also whats OBMM?

I have a bug with deadly reflex. My percentage of chopping things is set to 100, yet its still not working. I do remember chopping off a womans head ONCE, when i was playing around with godmode. but it only happened once..weird.

OOO seems to make my oblivion lag a little at some points and slower. Oh well.

By the way, whatsup with the torches? I heard OOO did something about them but now theyre kinda nameless and when i try to equip them i drop them instead...i dont get it.

Btw sigil stones ftw! xD

Thanks

Reinstalling seems to fix a lot of problems. However, the uninstall on the CD does not remove everything. it leaves behind your saved games, downloaded mods, registry entries and .ini file. If you had a problem with one of them it would not fix it. If you ever need to completely uninstall search the forum for the posts that tell you how to do it.

OBMM is short for Oblivion Mod Manager. A separate program by Timeslip that makes things like sorting mods, turning mods on and off, setting mod load order, Checking for mod incompatibilities, managing saves using multiple characters, Launching OBSE (Oblivion Script Extender) and a lot of other things. It is NOT a mod, but a separate program that makes playing Oblivion with mods easier.

If you are interested, it is located here: http://timeslip.chorrol.com/

Be sure to read the readme file as you do not install this like a mod. It has to run before Oblivion starts.

I can't help with either Deadly Reflex or OOO as I don't use either.

Alright thanks. I tried checking for conflicts but got a little confused, but maybe I'll try to play around with it sometime.

Can you tell me more about mod load order? Like whats the difference and why its needed and stuff. Ive been seeing some readmes mentioning mod load order, but I wasnt sure what that was.

Re: Load order.

Basically, if 2 mods change the same thing, the last mod loaded controls. So if the first mod changes a texture, lets say it changes the color of a robe that is already in the game from Grey to blue. Then a second modder makes a mod that changes the same robe from gray (the original game color) to Red.

If the load order has the blue one first, then the red one load after it, the robe will be red in the game. If their are no other conflicts, you could change the load order to load the red first, then the blue and the robe would be blue in the game.

In this case, a conflict would show on OBMM conflict report, but it would not matter and would probably not cause any problems in the game.

Of course this is a very oversimplified explanation as most mods change much more than just the color of a single object, but I hope it gets the concept of why load order can be important across.

That's actually a fairly short mod list. I don't see anything that I recognize as a problem. However, I don't use many of these, particularly OOO & Deadly Reflex which seem to show more conflicts than most. However, many people use both with no problems. I don't think I have ever looked at a OBMM list that didn't show a conflict with the Unofficial Oblivion Patch, mainly because it changes so many little things. Every mod has a thread on the Tesnexus forums and many on the Bethesda forums also. Most of these are at least monitored by the mod makers. Many times you can find much more info on the conflicts of a particular mod on one of these.

Most of the red detections are going to actually be things like the Red Blue example I used.

Alright thats good.

Thanks a lot!

By the way, not to make another thread Id like to mention the OblivionOnline mod if you didnt know. Since yesterday im now hosting the official public server for it, people can play it at obliviononline.org. I also created a nice working version (the packages included were complicated and bugged up) so for new users it's easier to start playing within 3 minutes :)
