Interface Mods - quick question

Howdy - just wondering if anyone here can point me in the direction to get some information on Interface modding?

I have looked all across the web, decompiled and examined the Flash files, but not getting very far.

 

P.S - I'm not a modding noob (I've been meshing/texturing since Morrowind), and I actually work in IT (programming) so this is stuff I can do. And really want to! I have experience with Flash and actionscript, it's just that I feel a bit awkward trying to work from the bottom up with no references and would prefer to get SOME groundwork before getting into this.

 

P.P.S - I sure love and appreciate what the good folks of SkyUI are doing, but there are some other things I'd like to work on and release.

 

 

Anyone with any knowledge on this - would be greatly appreciated! Cheers

Not as helpful as I'd like to be, but I'd suggest dropping the folks at SkyUI and checking if they'll hand over their source for you to take a look at. I stowed a look at some of the decompiled .swf's but I doubt I'm going to divine something in a few minutes that you wouldn't have figured out in a presumably much longer examination.

If when the CK finally comes out and there isn't any documentation on the actionscript/swf interfaces, I'll get on my knees and beg at the SkyUI team. :P

 

Still though - I'm hoping someone has SOME sort of resource that I for some reason can't locate..... ANY info on Interface modding, folks???

Is it? I am not sure if it is - it doesn't mention that anywhere in their readme, nor do they provide the source files..... ?

 

I'd love it to be.... I'm a little bit annoyed having to work with reverse-engineered flash files....

Bethesda devs already said they won't be releasing any of the UI flash source, so implementation within the toolset will likely be pretty light or non-existent.

Ahhhhh..... Damn. Yeah, if they aren't providing any fla to work with, it will be unlikely that their will be much documentation on UI building.

 

Hmmmmm.... Looks like I will have to contact the SkyUI team.....

Yes, that's the repository we use. It contains the full SkyUI source code, as well as the decompiled and fixed (beyond that unmodified) vanilla sources in the vanillasky branch.

 

Permission instructions from our page:

If you want to create your own mod based on this code, please respect the following rules:

I. Vanilla sources

 

You may use the decompiled/reconstructed vanilla source files in your mod without permission.

 

Please give credit when doing so, because even though they are all extracted from the original .swf's, it took some effort to get them working again.

II. SkyUI sources

 

You may not use non-trivial parts of SkyUI in your mod unless given explicit permission. If in doubt about the nature of a trivial part, contact us.

 

Permission will likely be granted, if you made changes that are significant enough for your name to be on top of the result instead of ours.

 

Permission will likely not be granted, if you just made a minor/superficial change.
