getting attacked in cities/villages for no reason

Hi everyone

 

so iv got this bug on my game where when i walk into whiterun some people like laborers and uthgaurd just end up been hostile towards me and when i walked into riverwood all the citizens just started attacking me i have no bounties not vampire or anything like that and its first time setting foot in riverwood so i have no idea what so ever whats going on here is my mod list. not sure what could be causing it as sometimes it happens but sometimes it doesnt on each different character

Ok first off did you maybe make the mistake and kill someone in Riverwood when attacking an enemy this I know will cause them to turn hostile. Also I believe if you've caught vampiriism it will do the same thing. Not sure on the last one though.

 

Also a Warning on the "Open Cities" mod it will and has broke quests both vanilla and mods. I had to delete it due to it conflicting with "Rigmor" a mod and Blood on the Ice a vanilla quest not to mention various CTD's.. Since I removed "Open Cities" I'm playing with 130 mods currently with no problems what so ever. not even a CTD in 3 days.

Hmmm i kinda suspected it to be open cities iv not attacked no npc at all they just randomly end up hostile entering through city gates hence open cities been a suspect for me. I will check it out and see what becomes of the hostility

Well I don't know if it is Open Cities for which is causing it but I know it's caused issues for me in my last play through. Since I've deleted it and started a new play through I've been fine. No CTDl's random or otherwise like I said and no problems with any quest so far either. So I'd start with the OC one first.

Let me know whether or not it is open cities and if removing it clears up the issues for you. There are a few mods on your list for which I think I might check out and maybe download.. Of course for now I'm waiting for Skyse and MCM before I add to many more then the 130 I currently have activated. Feel free to add me as a friend if you want. either here or on steam it's DRAGONMASTER. Whenever I'm playing SSE I'm usually broadcasting on Steam. Especially in the mornings before 130pm EST.

i took OC off my list and so far no trouble which is great but at same time i liked OC as it got rid of the loading and made it feel more like a fully open world ^^

 

im trying not to use most mods but iv come to enjoy these mods i use as it makes game more immersive and challenging and fills the world up so much so its not a empty wasteland

Believe me I didn't want to take off OC for the same reason. as you but had no choice. Now you want 3 great mods to add to your collection that are follower mods try these 3, Inigo, Vilja, and Rigmor. All 3 are fully voiced and add many quests to the game. I have them in my load order and won't play a game without them. take care

Sorry to necro this, but I'm having the exact same problem - no bounty, not a Vampire or werewolf, haven't attacked anyone nearby (getting back from Saarthal, I was just having a conversation with Savos Aren, I exit the Arch Mage's Quarters and suddenly get attacked by half of the College. Including bloody Savos Aren, who had just calmly talked to me a second ago. Actually, come to think of it, I was also getting attacked by some NPC on my way to the College, but since it was a non-Vanilla NPC i assumed it was someone from a quest mod I hadn''t fiinished yet and it would make sense later).

 

I'm not using OC and never have, so that can't be it.

Even more necro, I'm pretty sure its not Open Cities. I believe its actually Populated Cities Towns Villages. I'm getting random attacked by a 'Veteran' npc introduced by Populated Cities Towns Villages. No actions from me triggering agro, and city guards not responding to attack. May have to uninstall this mod.
