AdmiralAlbia
About six years ago amycus posted this incredibly helpful guide to porting meshes from DA2, which I'm attempting to follow in Gmax. Unfortunately I'm a little stuck, and the original thread is so far out of date that I doubt I'd get much joy from resurrecting it  I'm stuck on step 13, at the top of the second post. I've followed the steps as laid out exactly, several times, to no avail - every time, I press delete and either nothing happens or both meshes I'm working on disappear. I also note that I'm never asked to move the DA2 mesh's UV map back into position? Shouldn't I do that at some point? The obvious thing to do is to manually detach the meshes and then delete the extra one, but I can't find a way to detach them. I don't suppose there's anyone out there who can help me understand where I'm going wrong? I'm a complete beginner and I really have no idea what I'm doing here at all. Risibisi
I can't remember the options in gmax and I have never worked with Eshmes import/export scripts but I remember that you can in 3dsmax do this via the modify panel where you have to click "Pick object" then your target object and then the button what you want to do : merge, attach or detach!?I can't check it because I haven't installed anymore gmax etc. so I'm not a big help :sad:Maybe it's better to post the question in the gmax/3dsmax forum on the Nexus site? When I started to" work" with Blender I have watched many vid tutorials on youtube how to use certain functions etc. maybe you find there something useful too? :)
AdmiralAlbia
Thanks for the reply! I know where the detach button is - unfortunately it's always greyed out, and once I attach the two meshes I lose the ability to select one of them as it seems to become absorbed into the other. (Presumably that's why detach is greyed out...) I've been watching a tonne of youtube vids, but since this basically seems to be a hack none of them include it... I'll try the gmax forums :p
