A mod suggestion for encumbrance

I don't know how feasible this is, but wouldn't it make sense to make sense if your encumbrance altered how your acrobatics and your athletics leveled up? I know that if I ran around with a 50 lb pack, I'd be working out a lot harder than if I did so carrying nothing. I assume this would require OBSE, but I'm not sure if the game engine could support variable skill gain based on encumbrance, but I hope they could since there are magic mods which favor high cost spells over low cost.

If you pair it with a mod that increases the penalties from high encumbrance (i.e. graduated speed penalties and greater fatigue loss) you could, in a balanced way, make it so that you choose between being fast now (low enc) or being fast later by "training" with high encumbrance. This way, you could level acrobatics and athletics much higher, without having to stoop to auto-swimming into a corner for 70+ hours.

If no one has the time to do it, I would really appreciate a brief tutorial/suggestion list for how to go about making this happen.

I believe the main thing preventing this sort of mod is lack of a good way to determine how much weight the player is carrying against their maximum. Unless I am mistaken, the only way to get this would be to add up the weight of every inventory item, then compare that with the formula used to determine how much can be carried, then offset by any feather/burden effects.

Aren't there mods which alter encumbrance effects already though? You know, the ones which were made because the idea that you move perfectly until you pick up the last flax seed is ridiculous. They have a way to measure your percentage of capacity used. I believe I saw one which based the penalties off of % ranges of your total encumbrance, but I'm no mod expert. I just thought that it would be a good idea to try to implement.

I think it merits mentioning that Encumberance is, in fact, an Actor Value. And once that's there, checking fActorStrengthEncumberanceMult and modifying it by burden and feather seems quite reasonable. Though I know very little about determining experience gains.

Well, I feel stupid now...

At any rate, that means that the mod is totally doable with OBSE. You just need to find someone who wants to put together the scripts.

You rock, thanks a whole bunch man. This is another big step up for the immersion-type RPer's. I'll keep trying to think up more ideas and set them up here, so keep your eyes peeled, maybe I'll post another winner ^_^ .
