theninjew
So I've spent quite a bit of time creating a pretty complex Walmart-esque shopping mart inside the Super-Duper Mart thanks to the Conquest mod, Scrap Everything, and some light CK work. My totally un-biased opinion is that it's pretty cool, the jokes are funny, and your average Joe might enjoy having a shopping mall filled with vendors, live mirelurks in stewpots, dark humor and tasteful swearing. That being said, I know creating a mod is a lot of work, even more so since I'd like to make it relatively standalone. My best guess would be that doing this would involve: Replacing vanilla assets made buildable by other mods (SOE and Homemaker specifically) with their actual static versions. The idea here being to make the mod a standalone.Ripping a cell. I know it's possible, but not the process.Making NPC vendors, and all that involves.Probably other stuff? The good news is, I know how to do exactly zero of these things. Hooray! I'm hoping this won't be too grueling of a task, and maybe some of you more experienced folks can point me towards some guides and tutorials that could help. Any and all advice welcome. ReaperTai
You mentioned conquest mod, are you trying to make a settlement or just a shopping center? Yea replacing with statics. As to ripping a cell, never tried but you should be able to recreate it in the CK. Yea vendors no matter how ya do it. If doing just a shopping center that would be most of it. If doing it as a settlement then there are quite a few more steps. There are several CK vids on youtube. I have been focusing mostly on settlement stuff myself. Here are a couple links to hopefully point you in the right direction.https://www.creationkit.com/fallout4/index.php?title=Video_Tutorialshttps://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&rlz=1C1CHBF_enUS727US727&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=creation+kit+fallout+4+tutorial&tbm=vid&*
caleb68
I say go for it, if one never tries, they never find out if they can, or are willing to spend the time, to learn how to do something. npc vendors are pretty basic, they use a simple faction to setup the vendor, and they need the merchant vendor dialog faction, then a ai package to tell them to head off to their workspot during work hours, oh and their voice type needs to be set properly as well (generic vendors use the voices starting with male/female). There are alot of youtube videos out there, but many with errors within the videos themselves as well, so expect alot of trial and error even following one of those from start to finish, some of them have even clipped out / left out, some key things "assuming" the person already knows to do that, which should never be done when making a tutorial. looking at other generic vendors in game will get you so you can set them up pretty quickly. Most things in ck are pretty simple until you start messing with things that require quests and quest aliases, then you can end up having hair pulling experiences, 1 broken alias (i.e. someone dies in a alias) and the quest fails to execute. Still haven't messed with doing dialogs myself, watched several walk throughs on doing them, but i've held off on doing that still. But I say go for it, even if your just starting from scratch, and have no idea what to do, you may make something truly amazing :)
ReaperTai
What I would recommend first is to start designing it in the CK. Get the statics and all that in place and make sure you can set it up like you want it. Then tackle the workshop/vendors as it is more complex then placing tiles. Yes there are many vids out there and several do miss a step or 2. Don't watch just 1, watch several and you will start to get a better idea of what you need to do. There are also some good text tutorials for settlements. In the bunker I am working on I built the place first. Then added workshop/settlement stuff. Then added decorations.
