JeremeW5257
I've achieved level 100 in enchanting so I can put 2 enchants on everything. I crafted a full set of Alchemy/Smithing gear so it increases all potions and smithing by 28%. I make some enchanting potion and smithing potion which gives it an extra boost. I then create some armor with dual enchants (archery and one-armed). When I say armor, I mean everything...bracers, boots, rings...anything I can wear. I create a bow (Nightingale)...use the smithing potion with the smithing gear and boost it from 100 or so to 300 or so. Anyway, I equip my archery enchanted gear (which boosts archery by 68%), and it shows the damage rating goes to 900 or so. The problem is that when I repeat this process, by creating a stronger set of alchemy/smithing gear...with stronger enchanting/smithing potion the damage rating on the bow to actually go down...WTF? When I smith the armor with the increased gear and potion, it works. When I use the grindstone on the bow, it goes down. It actually shows a higher damage rating on the bow when I'm naked than when I use my archery enchanted gear. It goes from 900 to 100. I know it's a glitch/bug but it's driving me nuts. I've spent 3 hours singling out what piece of gear, even re-enchanting everything just to get nowhere. I eventually use a previously saved game just to get my old bow back. Mathematically, this makes no sense...like a lot of other things in the game. I was just wondering if anyone else encountered this and how they worked around the bug. Krawll
I can`t say i came across the exact same issue but definatly something similar . I started playing my last character as a warrior type mixed with conjuration and alteration magic . My goal was to make him a DeathKnight based on the World Of Warcraft DK. I also wanted to be able to enchant his gear for some strong Health and Magicka regen and some strong resistances to magic and elements. I have to say that i did an amazing job with being a DeathKnight and everything about my enchantments at this point seemed normal . Then once i had pretty much completed all the quests for companions and the mage College plus killing Alduin and being a thane with every hold and completing all the quests offered by the gods, the only thing i had left to do was to join the Thieves guild and even though this was my Third character, i had never joined the thieves guild even once with any other charcters. I realy didn`t feel like creating a new character only for that so i simply decided to turn this character into a thief by Crafting him a while set of Light Armor and Enchanting it , which i did. I made him a whole set of leather armor and added the ( Fortify Sneak ) Enchant on 3 pieces which added +40 % per piece . which means that i had a total of +120 % sneak.just from enchants. I had spent one perk in the sneak skill tree which gave me +20% there as well which brings me to +140 % sneak and then since i was good with alteration magic, i could cast the Muffle spell on myself ( Dual cast ) to make the spell stronger and the Invisibility spell ( Dual cast ) yet again. My base sneak skill was around 40 when i decided to become a thief which wasn`t too good but still not so bad considering all the bonuses i had from my gear . I actualy thought that all those bonuses would make me almost impossible to detect but i was dead wrong. everything could detect me so easily i couldn`t even backstab anyone , they would always detect me and i would be forced to just kill them the old fationed way. Not that i couldn`t handle it but still . Anyways all of that only to say that once i had completed a few quests , got to meet Karliah and joined the Nightingales which obviously got me the Nightingale armor, everything changed. And it`s impossible to understand how the Nightingale armor can actualy make me a better sneak than the armor i crafted myself since the only thing the Nightingale armor gives in terms of sneak is the Permanent Muffle on boots . So in other words, by equipping the Nightingale armor i was losing 120 % sneak bonus yet i was better at sneaking . The nightingale armor sucks in terms of protection, it offers no resistances other than 50 % resistance to poison which is basicly useless and it has very low armor rating. The only reason i`m actualy still wearing this armor is because it looks awesome and for some inexplicable miracle it makes me a better sneak , i can`t count how many times i got killed in one or two hits by ennemies that i could easily kill before i became a thief. So anyways , to get back to your question, YES i beleive that the enchanting system is flawed and in some cases enchants will not affect the gameplay the way it was intended to. jordanLoL
Don't try to break the game by exploiting the enchanting/crafting system. Do you really need weapons and armor with ratings over 1,000?

Its not 100 its 1000, if you look on the bottom damage rating not the one in the middle it will show the actual damage, I have a bow that does 6000 through a glitch it shows up 600 unless you look at the bottom of the screen where it says 6000
Kalimni
The attack text on the Items only displays three digits. I had the same "problem", then noticed on a couple of items that I could almost see the 4th digit poking out. On my "god" saves, I have a couple of glitch sword that do 7000+ damage, and a bow that does 6000+ but it looks like 7xx and 6xx in the menu. JeremeW5257
I know that a 900+ damage bow is more than enough to "get the job done", but it's about seeing how much of a "badass" my character can become...without using GOD cheats or totally exploiting the existing system. I'm playing on Master and using the mod that makes it 4x harder, and doing the "deadly dragons" mod, just to see how hard the game can be. I can usually "one shot kill" anyone with a sneak attack, but have difficulty with dragons...as it should be. The Nightingale armor isn't the best for defense, but I like the looks of it, so that's the only reason I use it. I've also found that often when I try pickpocketing...I'll select a target, view their inventory. A particular item will read 45% chance or something. I'll equip my "pickpocket" gear and it the odds of success actually goes down...again WTF? Makes me wonder if any of the numbers are real. I've tried to pickpocket items that give me a 50% success rate...get caught. Reload the save, and try again. Repeat this process 10x with no luck. Seems like if you flip a coin and get heads 10x in a row something is wrong.
