Help - Skyrim - Battle of Whiterun Glitch - Beginning

At the start of the Battle of Whiterun, Galmar instructs everyone to break through the barriers, which I do. But the quest marker will not update to move onto the next objective; lowering the drawbridge.

I've broken the barricade myself before any of the stormcloaks do, and then vice- versa, but the marker will not update. Note: The drawbridge seems to be already lowered??

I personally think it may be because I have the quest The Fallen in my journal, but I may be wrong. I have not spoken to either Paarthurnax, Arngeir or Estbern; hence starting the path of a temporary truce which is glitched because of starting either the storm cloaks or legion civil campaign, regardless of taking the oath or not.

So after reloading to a earlier save, so I could complete one of the civil campaigns and progress past this, yet another glitch (among so many others during the course of the game!) to deal with! So fed up with this game and it's bugs!

Please shed some light anyone, bcos I'm about ready to shelve this game forever... and sue Bethesda for my money back!!! Thank you

On a quest note, it seems the left barricade is causing the problems. NPC stormcloaks keeping attacking the barricade when it has already been destroyed. I can move over the right (destroyed) barricade without jumping. Not so for the left...Any ideas????????????

I posted this comment on a different forum. It is relevant. Too many people took me seriously when I mentioned suing lol. My reply to there comments...

"I wasn't going to sue them anyway. I'm way too lazy for that... not over this anyway. I'm simply venting.

I appreciate the vast levels of complex coding needed to program a game such as this with so many things going on at once. I can see why there can be complications in the coding that will cause performance issues.

But I now digress because regardless of this known fact, there are limits to what can be called coding error, and a complete failure with the coding all together. These errors fall into the latter.

Come on, it has been three going onto four months now. Simple fact, at the minimum for PS3, the game is flawed. The only reason why their are not as many consumers who may share my view is because they are not PS3 users for this game.

PC users are lucky to have the command console allowing them to fix Bethesda errors. Console users arn't so lucky; and you know what, its not fair. We all paid for a gaming experience to only be cut down mid way (three times I might add). Set Standards and Limits my friend.

You can try experimenting with the "setstate" console command.

Various quest stages can be found here.

Examples:

setstage CWSiegeObj 1050

... should put you at the point where you can enter the city. I haven't tried it but that's how it's supposed to work.

**Ack, just noticed you're on the PS3... sorry not sure how to help on that system.
