Crashes + Load order issue

Recommended Posts

Some time ago I was writing with almost same problem here, but since that I have solved most of my problems. Right now I have my game running smooth on blocked 45 FPS without problems and graphic crashes. But still I have few small problems. I have eliminated problems with constant crashes every few minutes/entering indoors but right now I have crashes once per few minutes no matter what I will do - If I'm checking my inventory or opening-closing my pipboy, or I'm playing normally etc. I don't know what can cause problems right now. Of course my graphic card drivers are up to date, games is patched and so on.

Here there is my load order. Any suggestions on what can cause those few crashes?

Isn't ILO - complete the master of all ILO files?

Try putting it in front of them.

Also all mods coming after Director's chair should load earlier.

Your major mods seem to be placed correctly, but you should group all smaller ones (armors, weapons, etc.)

You can also try if creating a merged patch helps. Unless MP1 is your merged patch, that is.http://www.thenexusforums.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/wink.gif

With ILO I have small issue that I have 2 files for it named ILO-RI-NSkies Patch.esp but they need master Nevada Skies.esp which I don't have from Nevada Skies.

My load order is just as BOSS program suggested.

Your major mods seem to be placed correctly, but you should group all smaller ones (armors, weapons, etc.)

Can You tell me how can I do that - grouping mods into one? I'm a real rookie in modding Fallout, but I was wandering if I can create for all those small things only few esp files to decrease number of plugins.

Yep, it's my merged patch

It contains things from those mods:

FalloutNV.esm
DeadMoney.esm
HonestHearts.esm
OldWorldBlues.esm
LonesomeRoad.esm
Caliber.esm
Project Nevada - Core.esm
Project Nevada - Equipment.esm
MikotoBeauty.esm
New Vegas Error Corrections COMPLETE - DLC.esm
DragonskinTacticalOutfit.esp
DragonskinBonusPack.esp
Realistic_Repair_NV.esp
TombRaiderArmor.esp

I'm wondering about New Vegas Error Correction mod if I should use it or not.

Also I forgot to add - I'm using NMC textures Medium pack. And as far as I noticed, sometimes my game don't load all textures and I have some issues - you know strange texture mixes or black textures and usually after few minutes after I see such thing I got crash. Last time - in november when I played FNV last time I had same problems but on I guess small texture pack. Of course I have NVSE+4GB enabler.

I'm wondering about this enabler, because I have 16 GB of RAM and I'm wondering if it's possible to use most of it in game?

You know that this patch is for the non-URWL version only? And I'm not sure if the latest version needs it at all.

Grouping them in to one would mean merging them into a single file. You can use the "FNV plugin utility" (found here at the Nexus) to do that.

BOSS only sorts recognized plugins. So I suppose some of them will be listed as "unrecognized" by BOSS. You have to move them manually.

And that's the first thing you should try before attempting to merge multiple mods into one esp. Seasoned modders suggest to start with a maximum number of 140 plugins; before you reach this limit, you don't necessarily need to merge esps, but feal free to test the utility.

I had some trouble with NVEC recently, but it's definitely worth a try, because FNV is a pretty buggy game. Start with the NVEC bugfixes. If that works, you can add NVEC + patches.

Try deactivating and reactivating Archive Invalidation in FOMM.

The enabler, also called large-address-aware utility, does just that. It tells the game that there's more than 2 GB RAM available, but the game won't usually use much more than 3 GB.

I'm even not useing it as it is in load order, because it doesn't work for me - I was just curious about it.

I will look into it. I guess it's always better to load less plugins. Right now I have around 100. Is there anything I should be aware of when I use this FNV Plugin Utility?

Right now I have it in full version plus DLC. In my merged patch there are 2 or 3 places signed as red one with some sort of problems and I'm wondering if I should use info from NVEC or from other mods then?

100 should not be a problem for any FNV installation. If using the FNV plugin utility, objects that are part of the merged mods might get new base IDs, meaning that those items will be removed from the game and have to be added again.

Example: You have added an armor mod and have this armor in your possession. After merging this mod with another one, the armor will be removed from your inventory, as the corresponding Base ID doesn't exist any longer. If you want to get it back, you can use the console with the new ID.

Best way, at least in my view, is deactivating armor and weapon adding mods before merging. After merging activate the new plugin. It should then work like it did, when you first activated those mods. So you'll have to ckeck containers or finish quests again.

So you want to overwrite conflicting entries?

Could you please a screenshot showing the problem?

Is there a file named Fallout - AI!.bsa in your data folder?

Try installing the texture pack manually and check, if all files and folders are copied to the right directories of your FNV installation. You can also post a screenshot.

And when you've finished editing your load order, update your first post or post the new one, please.

Hm... All in all I have went to an conclusion, that Crashes are right now not important... I have bigger problem - huge FPS drop after about +/- 10 hours in total of playing FNV - I mean time of game running no matter how many crashes happened, restarts etc. also no matter if it's one day, or few days, computer restarts etc. FPS drops to less then 10. I have set 45 FPS as maximum in my NVSR config file and it worked for about those 10 hours, and after that I'm getting less and less FPS. I have read some suggestions in forum but switching off mods like Nevada Skies, Electrocity, all lightning mods, all textures mods and so on didn't help. Probably if I start game once again from the beginning I will be able to play normally but only for those +/- 1- hours of total game playing time.

Right now I don't have NMC, because I fought it'll be better to remove it and switch in future to Paco Bueno. Right now I don't have any texture packs, only WRP but I tried what is going on if I switch it off.

All mods are installed via FOMM.

My computer specification:

Processor: Intel Core i7 920 2,67 GHz

16 GB RAM

Windows 7 64 bit

Graphic Card Nvidia GeForce 580 GTX

And about crashes, I have checked few things and probably I can say that I have less crashes without NMC - probably size of that mod was not good in my situation.

Any idea what is going on?

EDIT!!!!

I have checked something strange - if I run save game just from beginning, game runs well. Also I tried to empty my inventory, but there is no change. Wired....

Please check, if you're using the correct version of NVEC.

You have the wrong version of ILO installed.

I'm not sure about FewPoses and MikotoBeauty.esp, please check their readmes

Do you have stability problems with other software?

If yes, did you ever run a RAM test?

I'm asking, because you obviously have a triple channel board but 16 GB of RAM, that's a pretty odd combination.

Edit: sorry the editor screwed it up somehow...

I will check mods. I don't have stability problems in other games - my current configuration was well tested as I had huge crash problems some time ago with FNV but that was a problem of broken graphic card - the previous one. RAM was also tested many times. I had a same problem without Mikotos so I dont think that it can be a problem. I really don't understand why if I run save game from beginnig of the game it runs smooth. Maybe it's something wrong with CASM and saves?

All mods are fresh downloads from 14.01.2012. So NVEC is I guess the newest version. Also what You mean about Ilo?

Also to be sure I have tested my computer before FNV on two bigger games Metro 2033 and Fallout 3 GOTY both on high/ultra settings and there were no problems - F3 was modded on same level as FNV about 100 plugins mostly same type as in those I use now in FNV.

The spoiler has an edited version of your load order, although I have to admit, it's quite annoying to have to scroll all the way through it, but give it a try.

I didn't mean that Poses and Mikoto are incompatible, I'm just not sure on where to put them for best results. That's why I pointed you to the readmes.

FNV and autosaves aren't best friends at all. Deactivate all autosave options and test if saving only manually yields anything fruitful.

There shouldn't be a problem with CASM, but as you can tell from the edited load order, I suggest deactivating it for testing purposes.

Also, all mods I didn't list in the spoiler are known for creating trouble, if used with many other mods.

Have you tried making a clean save with each and every mod disabled?

If your game will crash while loading a save with the mods disabled, try starting a new, completely unmodded game.

In both cases just play the game for a while and see, if the problem still persists.

During Fomod-Installation, every ILO version has a detailed explanation on what plugins are required and if you need to check any other ILO options at all.

Please read those carefully when reinstalling ILO. I'm pretty sure you've installed far too many last time.
