evilkoal
hehehe, i am stockpiling them for future reference :)i cannot give them up, in the name of science! Not even just one? It doesn't have to be an important body part. -T- well, i suppose i can donate an arm, a leg or a torso ;) Great topic! Of course there are pros and cons to everything. I'm not a religous person, but playing God shouldn't be left to us. Natural selection, and mutation should be done the way it always has been done over thausands of years. What's the rush! I've seen Boys Of Brazil. what is this boys of brazil?but "playing god" is what we do! is conceiving a child not "playing god?" but enough of this god stuff! back to the subject at hand! where were we? Guest
recently in the news here in England, there was this kid (17) who was going blind, some sort of genetic disorder or some thing. any way he had gene theropy done on his eyes and his sight improved dramaticaly. this is done by creating a virus and using it as the vector for inserting genes, it was used about 10 years ago for humans (experimental) but because it killed someone in the states it was put on hiatus and this is the first i have heard about its use on humans since. the aplications are phenominal, for example. there are peaple that are geneticaly imune to Hiv (and ebola and plage, same gene) by isolating the gene you could inject a vector virus into the limphnodes (or is it bone marrow?) where helper T cell are produced and alter their genes, in this way you suddenly have helper T cells that cannot be infected, this would meen that an HIV pacient would never develope aids and therefore could live a full and long life as a carrier wouthout and drugs. another use would be in the treatment of cancer. cancer is caused by damaged gene that controle replication. by using a vector virus to replace the damaged genes with gelthy ones the cells would stop being cancerus and athough it wont get rid of tumors it would stop them frop spreading. this would proberbly be of use to nip tumors in the bud without radio or kemo, or as a post op means of stoping the thing from coming back and spreading. if it means pople dont have to have kemo any moe then this is a good thing, nobody likes kemo. Kresselack
I heard of a man who was arrested for attatching animal parts to a person. The patient wanted to be half man, half creature. The doctor implanted some sort of uterus to test the mutation. Later the government found out made a new law to abolish these experiments. Some of this could be interesting. It would be nice to have some physical features that give our bodies advantages (flying, swimming, running, leaping) but without the disgusting appearances.
