NPC Dialog Problem

After going to the Shivering Isles and doing a few quests (Fork of Horripulation, Rebuilding the Gatekeeper, and The Helpless Army specifically) I found that all NPC's in Cyrodiil would only ever say "Why are you disturbing me? I need to free the shrine so I can sleep, it's been so long since I've slept" as their greeting and end conversation.

This includes all shops and quest npcs, though everyone in Shivering Isles interact normally.

After loading some old saves, the dialog is normal on them, and I just installed a mod that added new NPC's within Cyrodiil, they say the same thing.

SI dialogues are rigged in a way so that while in SI, only SI related dialogues will be used. While in Tamriel, only Tamriel dialogues will be used. This sort of problem is usually caused by moving from one realm to the other without using the default gateway. As to why they are speaking that dialogue, I havn't a clue. Maybe a conflict caused by another mod? Or did you leave right in the middle of a quest?

Yeah, I left SI right after I started 'The Helpless Army' I thought that may have had something to do with it so I went back and finished the quest. I went back and forth through the main gate though I'm fairly sure.

Mods I'm using would be Exnem's Body Replacer, Kvatch Aftermath, Actors in Charge, and a handful of custom armor mods compatible with Exnem's.

Though if it's not something I can expect to happen again, I'll just try using the console on one of my old saves to bring myself up to speed. Thanks for the reply.

I have a problem very similar to yours.

I was in the SI for a while and I went back to Tamriel to find that all dialogue was messed up.

Almost everyone I talked to said this:

"I HAVE NO GREETING" :wallbash:

There also were no topics to chose form and the only time someone talked was about

me being the KOTN Crusader.

Everything else works.

The mods I have are too many to list...and when I turn them off the saves won't load at all. :wallbash:

The BIG mods are:

Deadly Reflex

KOTN

SI

all the ones that came with KOTN

the OBSE

and

CM companions

I reinstalled Oblivion, deleted old mods,

and I still can't fix it.

Can anyone help me?

Is the reason for your problem too. Not any mods or mistakes with installation.

This is what happens when you leave the Shivering Isles without going through the portal door. Walking through the door initializes certain very important things in the game (both to and from SI) so when you bypass this by using some other portal or a recall/ fast travel spell, it gets jacked up. To fix it: just go through the door. When you get far enough in the story even Haskel will actually tell you to never use a spell to travel between the SI and Cyrodiil.
