The Exodus Explained?

I figured they had to use a different body since the little girl's was so unhealthy and simply transferred the soul into whatever body they had available - might not have looked quite as nice as Vralla's original body :ermm: Roslyn's 6-year old son looked like an old man because it was an old man's body they transferred his soul into. That was my take on that story

Considering the massive emphasis placed upon 'beautiful' in describing the child, it's likely that the Necromancers didn't raise the her in....quite the same physical condition. Think from the perspective of a Necromancer....they probably don't quite 'get it'. You already have to be a bit different from everyone else to be practising that kind of a magical art*, so I expect their perspective is one of preserving/restoring the life, which is what's truly precious, and they just don't understand all the other aspects. I imagine that Necromancers such as these guys (presuming they weren't being evil for the lulz and truly wanted to help) would restore someone as a fully functioning zombie and entirely fail to see the problem. They're alive. The soul and spark is there. What's wrong?

*I wouldn't write off Necromancy and Necromancers as entirely and intrinsically evil, but it's not exactly a profession that's attracted the most morally robust people capable of maintaining an ethical outlook. Usually more the "conquer death, and then the world with a skeleton army" type.

Glad to help!

When I first read that book in-game, I wondered if it was based on a place that could actually be visited as it gave pretty specific directions (Olenveld is on an island ~1 day's sail north from Winterhold). I had meant to try it once I explored up north, but had forgotten all about it till I saw your post. I think it's time I take a little recon journey and see if it's findable. A day's sail might be beyond the northern boundary, though, of the game's limit.Even if it's a totally deserted ruin of a town it'd be fun to find it

It would have been awesome. But it's not there. I searched for it already.

Either because it doesn't actually exist, or because Bethesda didn't think to include it. Maybe someone can mod it in. :whistling:

The story is clearly analogous to the pet dog as dinner story. So it's just as likely, if not moreso, that it does not exist.
