stratogroove
I'm running at 60 fps everywhere, with the graphics set on high, fxaa on, and each slider turned up just a notch or two higher than normal. AA is being handled by the gpu itself, (that got rid of the blue lines around my characters hands/weapon, and sped the game up). AF on 8 and I'm using Tesval, skyboost actually slowed it down. The only place I get crashes is on the road from Whiterun to Ivarsted, so I tend to avoid it. I was actually surprised by the performance I get, I tested my pc on system requierments lab before I bought Skyrim, and it showed my pc was barely over minimum, but it runs so smooth. I think the secret to my performance is I use the original driver that came on the disc. I've updated the driver after getting skyrim, and it was bad. 10fps tops. I removed the driver, uninstalled the card, and reinstalled it with the original driver, and it was back. Also I run the barest of the bare minimum amount of processes. At idle I'm running 22 processes, with the game, 24, one is the game, and the other that stram overlay crap. My pc is run of the mill and 3 years old, except for the gpu, that's new. InAComaDial999
Game runs pretty much perfectly for me on a i7 920 and HD5870. I run at 1920x1080, 4xAA/8xAF. It suggested "High" originally, that ran fine but I have since increased a bunch of the distance sliders to about half way between High and Ultra. The only mods I use are "No Blocky Faces" and I replaced the Gauldur amulet meshes with those of the Saarthal amulet (same amulet but now doesn't clip). Fraps says I get 60fps most places, dropping to 40 at the top of the Whiterun stairs and some areas of Markarth. No crashes, just the usual quest glitches. Deleted3744389User
I have a Dell XPS 15z with these specs:core i5 2.4 GHz6 GB of DDR3 RAMNvidia GeForce 525M with 2 GB of video RAMVideo drivers are the latest beta I was just wondering how I could make Skyrim run better. I currently use 1024x768 resolution with high textures and low everything else with no Antisoptric flitering or Antialiasing, and I still lag like hell in a lot of places. If it matters I also have FXAA enabled. I've also tried the Skyrim Acceleration Layer mod but it doesn't help.

SergeantGrrock
Outta the box Skyrim ran like crap for me. It did a TERRIBLE job setting up my initial video settings as I finally found out. Follow these 2 steps and I KNOW that you will see a SIGNIFICANT increase in playability. 1. Update your video drivers. Don't be intimidated. It's not that tough. Made a Huge difference for me. Then.... 2. Go here: http://www.geforce.com/Optimize/Guides/the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim-tweak-guide Doesn't matter which graphics card you have 'cause it just tells you how to tweak the games own menu graphic options... step by step. I was surprised at how some of the settings made a HUGE difference on performance and virtually NO difference in graphics quality. The only mod I tried was SkyBoost. Sadly I saw virtually no difference with it but I know many people have. Finally, if you want the game to run better UPDATE YOUR VIDEO DRIVERS and USE THE TWEAK GUIDE I gave you the link to. ;) Oh sorry OP, I guess I should add that it runs great for me now at max settings... at least the ones that matter! Rooker75
... I haven't tried Skyboost or whatever it's called, since it requires the script extender. That thing caused too many crashes for me when I used it in Fallout 3 and NV.... Only it doesn't. TESVal requires SKSE, Skyboost doesn't. No reason not to install it. Watch out when the Skyrim update comes though, you may have to remove it. It's only 2 files though, so not really a problem. Oh, very cool. I'll try it then and see. huntsman2310
Yep. It ran smooth ever since I downloaded it off Steam. And virtually bug-free too.
