Please help, problem with ~ button

Hey guys

Im at my friends house right now, and im testing OO but i cant see if he successfully connected because the ~ buttton doesnt work. I tried reinstalling oblivion for him but it didnt fix the problem. Does anyone know why? the button itself obviously works, but not in oblivion. I cant bring up the console...thats gay because with his lag its impossible to even get the sigil stone without tgm power xD

Anyways if anyone can help ill appreciate it. ty

 

I seriously gotta help out my friend...he has this huge lag, how do you expect him to get the sigils without tgm power xD

Is he using the Media Center version of windows or Vista? if so, having the remote sensor plugged in disables the ` key for some reason. The simple answer is to unplug the remote sensor and reboot without it.

 

There is a mod to fix this called Ring of Console, available here: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=13133

 

Some keyboards use a different character on the key, but it is still located just below the esc key and to the left of the 1 key.

 

The console can be disabled in the Oblivion.ini file, but unless you have changed it, it is on by default.

Look for bAllowConsole=1 if this is set to 0 it will disable the console

Defraging the hard drive, optimizing the virtual memory, shutting down unneeded processes will all help. If he has less than 1 gig of ram, upgrading the ram will help a lot - 2 gig is much better.

He actually has a pretty fast comp..thats why im confused. He has a nice AMD procoessor (forgot which one but its like 6000+ i think), and he ahs 3 GB of ram. He is running vista, although im not sure which one. But thanks a ton, that stuff should fix it!
