Doesn't matter if your other games run fine, Skyrim likes a powerful CPU and having a weak one will throttle performance. Get a quad core. As for not updating, you're basically hamstringing yourself. I suppose if you hate Steam that badly you'll have to do without all the significant optimization that Bethesda has done, and the version-dependent software like SkyBoost that also increases performance (often incredibly). You can just shut Steam off when you're not gaming. It doesn't remain on at all times and it doesn't need to be unless you're gaming. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
