3d Blender and collision

I finally found out why my Blender does not work with nifs. I have installed the latest Blender, but it seems that only old versions work with the nif plugin. So I`ve got some questions to 3d modders. I`m not a 3D-modder myself, have never created any 3d models ( apart from a few simple models for Solidworks and playing with the awesome Z-Brush trial) . I mostly used nifskope to create something I need using some existing game models and collisions .But this time I can`t find any fitting shapes. I thought maybe I can cut a doorway in the existing collision using Blender or create a new collision. But I don`t know Is it possible at all. And just in general what version of Blender is better to use use with windows 10. I wanted to try learning 3d and to make a little break from scripting but I` not sure where to start. Blender does not look like an intuitive and easy to use program. I had to google for an hour just to learn how to save a file in it.
