GammaLead
So, I was a RuneScape fan in the old days, and one thing I liked was the original Spirit Shields. They provided additional protection, but at a cost (unlike vanilla and summermyst enchantments). Compared to maxing smithing and some other enchantments, these seem a touch underpowered (as they do not quite scale to this game) but the base numbers can be tweaked. Further, if they are placed around in the world, a low leveled player can stumble upon them and use them (big benefit). Also, characters who roleplay and don't use a forge can use this to negate attack damage. Finally, effects will apply to all attacks and non-scripted damages, not just those that hit the shield (divine protection). Any chance for a mod that creates all four shields (and preferably places them around the world)? Elysian Shield (light) - 70% chance to negate 25% of any attack's damage, slight health regen buff, fortify health +40)--> This includes the base shield effect, as well as simulating a slight buff for the missing prayer bonus. Health was chosen as I believe it fit better than the magica regen of the other comperable shield, and also works to differentiate it.--> This shield is meant to keep you alive with minimal drawbacks (it just only works ~17.5% of the time). A Rogue/Scout's Shield. Divine Shield (heavy) - Magica regen is Stunted while in combat (0 magica regen while wielding this shield). fortify magica +50. 100% chance to negate 30% of all damage received. In exchange, 15% of negated damage instead damages magica. If the player has no magica, the effect does not work. Slight buff to magica regen ouside of combat.--> Includes base shield effects, using magica as prayer points. This shield would work very well for any non-mage/paladin warrior, as they have 100 magica (150 with the shield) that they do not use, and will now have a use for magica potions. They also effectively have a minimum of 130 health. Improved non-combat magica recovery aids shield usage.--> This shield is meant to keep you alive, period. It draws upon your willpower steadily to activate the effect (0 magica regen), and damages your will to reduce damage taken, but leaves you able to run and attack (stamina). A Warrior's shield. Arcane Shield (light) - All schools of magic cost 10% less to cast. Destruction spells deal 20% more damage and have a chance to stagger an enemy on impact. Slight buff to magica regen, fortify magica +30.--> This attempts to compensate for the lack of dual-casting, and is a powerful shield for a novice mage who doesn't even have the perks (or anyone who uses a perk overhaul that doesn't have the perks). It is also a compliment to Archmage robes, Sarthaal amulet, and Savant's Circlet.--> A shield meant to boost the powers of any magic user greatly. A Mage/Battlemage's shield. Spectral Shield (heavy) - Player resists 20% of all types of magic damage (fire, frost, shock, magic). 20% spell absorbtion. Slight boost to Stamina regen, fortify stamina +30.--> Seemingly the under-appreciated shield, this one was the best tanking shield, with about as much magic defense as some of the better quality armors (in runescape). This is replicated by 40% resistance in the three schools of magic (20% magic + 20% fire, etc.) and spell absorbtion. It also boasts a small buff to healing. If using vanilla perks, any spell that hits the shield is effectively nullified (elemental protection) by reaching the max damage reduction cap. If you are a mage with the atronach stone and perk, you have 100% spell absorbtion, instead. If using perk/stone overhauls, this shiled can be even more valuable given the bonuses which may no longer be obtainable)--> A shield built for tanks. Extra stamina and stamina regen for prolonged blocking sessions and rapid strolls along the beach. A Tank/Hexhunter's shield. Concerning images, while the actual sigils would be awesome (I loved the look of those shields), I'd just be happy with the effects on iron shields. I recommend all shields have similar stats to ebony or dragonbone (but slghtly lower, as the effects are what is meant to make it the best). Shield type (heavy/light) chosen to more match what role it was meant to fill, but is largely arbitrary. Bonus points if they are not un-enchantable--They are meant to be unique pieces blessed by the divines to protect their wielder. Non-temperable. GammaLead
Update: I actually have decent (untested/theoretical--I like to delude myself)) progress in creating the divine shield, using my main modding mode: (drum-roll please) SSEEdit. I'm pants at the creation kit (I can't even get that sucker to load properly--I might be able to use it if I could be bothered to re-install it, but then I would have to actually learn how to use it. SSEEdit is much simpler for me to understand). My main issue with the Divine currently is that I cannot figure out how to give the player a perk when the shield is equipped (cannot find a similar magic effect). Also, I'm stuck with a constant magica drain effect in combat as I have no clue which end the script shoots out of (read: no clue hot to make/create/write an argument for a script). That, and I'll be stuck using vanilla shield meshes and textures as the base for these shields as my graphic skills are... abysmal would probably be too generous. Elysian: I can easily do the base effects of health regen and health buff (I'm actually planning on boosted combat health regen vs. regular health regen). I'm unsure how to create a 'probability roll' for the shield to apply the perk for that specific hit. I'd imagine it's script-related? though I have not looked at all of the options to implement that yet. Even if I did, I would probably run into the same problems as above. Arcane: I can effect most aspects of this shield, though I am leery of fortify destruction magnitude. I think I know how, tho. The chance at staggering... I have the same issue of probability rolling. Spectral: I'm pretty sure if I bothered to try creating this, I could actually do this by myself. I would just need to find the spell absorption effect; the rest I know about, and know how to apply it to the shield. It would figure that the one shield I don't care about I can create. *long-suffering sigh* Any help, info or links that may help in this endeavor would be appreciated. For now: I am releasing the Kraken. Goodnight, Nexus.
