greentea101
I'm trying to do the quest "The Fallen", but Jarl Balgruuf only offers the dialogue for the quest "Diplomatic Immunity" (which I've already completed), so there's no way to progress because I don't have access to his proper dialogue options. All I get is "I need your help with something." (asks him to create a diversion), "How well do you know Elenwen?", and "Are you enjoying the party?". So far my efforts have been focused around SetStage and SetObjectiveCompleted, but that doesn't cut it anymore, because I can't make guards and NPCs actually prepare the trap for the dragon using those commands (at least that's what I assume is supposed to happen, I've never done this quest before). So now I'm thinking that maybe there's a way to make the Jarl have the proper state and offer the proper dialogue options. If anyone knows how I could do that, or have any idea how I could otherwise progress this quest, please let me know. Extra internet points for you if you can help. mcfeher
Have you done any of the civil war quests? If not, you have to do a peace treaty quest before the Jarl will agree to the risk of using the dragon trap. It's weird that he has the party lines, I don't even remember him being at the embassy. greentea101
I had already fought and won the war for the imperials well before starting Alduin's Bane. I didn't see Balgruuf at the party either, but both him and Proventus Avenicci behave like they're at the party. Anyway, I lost my patience and decided to skip the rest of the main quest line entirely (I completed all of it with SetStage). I'll play it and finish it with the next character I guess. Edit: When I did Diplomatic Immunity, I had problems with the quest. I couldn't complete the stage "Search for information about the dragons returning", and I'm pretty sure I looked everywhere and found all the documents. Also, after I freed the prisoner, no soldiers entered the room, and I was forced to unlock the trap door with the console so I can leave, and then I had to finish the quest with SetStage. That may have caused the glitch with Balgruuf, although I doubt it. Edited January 24, 2012 by greentea101
