Does anyone else think there should be chosen race quests?

I think it would do a lot in terms of identifying with the character you created. Say like Khajiit characters would have something to do with the nomadic merchant Khajiit. Maybe working for them to increase their favorability with Nords, escorting radiant missions, some diplomatic quests, and maybe at the end of the quest line one or all the Khajiit merchants start a town or move into an abandoned area and set up trade routes. So basically you help your own race establish a foothold and good rapport in Skyrim or vice versa, get them kicked out or they no longer trade near towns. If you choose to help, ultimately you get thanked by Khajiit and get another race bonus of ability or some such.

Whew..

Does anyone else think this would be nice? What are your ideas?

I like your ideas, but quests like that involving Khajit earning favorability of Nords? Not likely, unless you have already killed the racist, power-hungry leader of a clan that shall remain nameless. Then maybe. Edited by R3Q

I agree with this, and like it a lot. I mean there were Orc strongholds that only let Orcs in, unless you did a favor for someone and suddenly all Orcs love you regardless of race. It would add more to your character and the game world if these quests existed and were only open to that race and no one else. I mean maybe you could persuade your way in and help out, but the other race would really be suspicious of your motives.

But I think it would be better if it were closed to other races. I remember one Dark Elf, I think it was Hlaalu, near Windhelm taking about working hard to win over the Nords respect to show them that they can be productive and what not. So a man like that wouldn't ask for help from a Nord. It would make him look weak.

That would be pretty interesting, if having these relationships could affect the story line. Killing certain individuals would be a boon to some people. Though that would be really complicated unless Beth trolls these forums and need more ideas for their DLC.

Alternatively, a modders could pull this off (if you already finished the major questlines). Seeing Skyrim a more open or more tyrannical nation would be interesting to say the least =) Edited by Silvaner

This brings back memories of Bloodmoon for Morrowind, where you had direct influence over the worlds evolution with the trading company building quests, that was one of the highlights for me.

It would no doubt be awesome if such things existed in Skyrim. The fact that playing different races has almost no impact on NPC's disposition was quite disappointing. If you play as Khajiit, you were magically accepted in Holds across Skyrim, when your friends were left out in the snow. There is a strong feeling of detachment from your own people, knowing you have all the power and wealth in the world, yet you can't even put a roof over your friends that are freezing out in the wild, it's both unrealistic and hurts your ability to role play.

I definitely support your ideas, and i would love to see things like:

A major quest line unique to each faction.

Historically accurate NPC disposition.

The ability to influence the world with gained power and wealth.

The ability to gift gold to unique or important characters and change their fate.

Housing projects with the ability to build your own town and give refuge to your people. Setup trade caravans, merchant shops and more.

Influence alliances between races through diplomacy.

I guess it might be worth learning how to mod, because i don't like our chances of Bethesda giving us these things.

There actually is one race specific event that I know of. If you're an Altmer, and you put on Thalmor hooded robes, you can do the embassy quest, and the Thalmor will think you're one of them. I don't want to say exactly what happens(because of spoilers), but there is specific dialog. Edited by drakkenfan

Of course. Like the following: Kajiit can't enter cities by default, Argonians can't enter some cities. Everyone but nords, especially dunmer and imperials can't join Stormcloaks easily, Altmer, Bosmer and Kajiit can work for Thalmor by default, and so on.

That would be completely awesome. It would make me want to play through the game as every different race, just to see the differences.
