Crashing on exit

Please can anyone help.

This is my first time here. I've been a member of the Nexus for a while, but didn't realise the forum existed, just used the various download areas, (Fallout3, Fallout New Vegas, Oblivion and Skyrim).

My problem is that I've been installing Mods and also tweaking the .ini files, (mostly checking for conflicts inbetween), and all was well, until recently. Now the game crashes occasionally whilst playing, (Exit to Desktop), and when actually exiting the game, either properly of with consol qqq, it just lockups and I have to CTRL-ALT-DEL.

Firstly, my laptop spec;

  • Acer Aspire 8930G
  • Inter Core 2 Duo T6400 (2.0Ghz, 800Mhz FSB, 2MB L2 cache)
  • 4Gb Ram DDR3
  • NVidia GeForce 9600M GT TurboCache
  • 18.4" Full HD 1080p CineCrystal screen
  • HDD, BluRay Drive
  • STEAM version of the game with all DLC

Now my mods and the order they are installed;

00 FALLOUTNV.esm

01 DEADMONEY.esm

02 HONESTHEARTS.esm

03 OLDWORLDBLUES.esm

04 LONESOMEROAD.esm

05 GUNRUNNERSARSENAL.esm

06 CLASSICPACK.esm

07 MERCENARYPACK.esm

08 TRIBALPACK.esm

09 CARAVANPACK.esm

0A SelectFire.esm

0B ProjectNevada-Core.esm

0C ProjectNevada-Equipment.esm

0D SpeedyResources.esm

New Vegas Rediesigned II.ems NEW

Readius_NV.esm NEW

Exciters M4 Pack.esp

Hatless Companions.esp

A Better Veronica.esp

Project Nevada-Cyberware.esp

Project Nevada-Rebalance.esp

The Weapon Mod Menu.esp

Neckchains.esp NEW

Tactical Combat Gear.esp

Type3 Leather Armors.esp

Improved Companions.esp

NVWillow.esp

Courier Vault.esp

Companions Sandbox Mode 3.esp

CallahansMagnum.esp NEW

NVR-Lore version.esp NEW

NVR-Recommended.esp NEW

A Better Cass.esp

NEW mods added after reporting issues and after JEO's advice. Removed mods removed after JEO's advice.

Also installed is the BewareOfTheGirl Type3 HD Body replacer, that was installed seperately.

I have also tried de-activating ALL the above except for FALLOUTNV.esm and I get the same issues.

Attached are my .ini files, that may hold the key as I've been browsing the Web looking for tips on how to improve the smoothness of the game.

Again, I've tried re-setting them all and the game wouldn't load, (because of the uGrids=7 issue). I did resolve that and changed back to uGrids=5 using tips on Nexus and using the NV_Configation utility, (wish I'd seen that earlier).

Here are the .ini's

Fallout.ini

FalloutPrefs.ini

Fallout_default.ini

Also a file called Renderinfo.txt

https://rapidshare.com/files/829144413/RendererInfo.txt

One further note. I have played the game 3 time before and completed it in different ways, firsly with no mods at all, just the base game and then with various mod combinations, so I know my rig is capable, albiet a little glitchy occasionally and with very occasional slow-down.

Thanks for having the patience to read all the waffle above, but thought it best to give as much info as possible.

Thanks again in anticipation.

Edit. to update MODS installed/removed.

This is a bug which stretches back to the time of Oblivion. There is no telling what mod is "causing" it, but there is a solution:

Download New Vegas Stutter remover. Run the game once and exit. Then look in Data\NVSE\Plugins for the new_vegas_stutter_remover.ini file. Open that up, make sure Fast Exit is turned on.

Thanks JEO, it has definately solved the locking issue on exit. But the crashing still occurs, usually when I fast travel or travel through doors to other areas.

Has anyone any other ideas.

See Original Post as I have removed some of my installed MODS.

Perhaps a re-install may be in order after I save a copy of my game files. Any advice on how to do that without messing the new .ini's would be helpful.

I know where the files are stored and do I only need to back-up the SAVES directory within users/blah/blah/blah/FalloutNV

Fast Travel or Cell-changing errors can indicate a bad mod. The only one on that list that I don't recognize is SpeedyResources.esm. I'm not saying that's what it is, but I personally don't get these errors and use every one of those mods, myself.

Mods which HAVE caused it are:

Momod (Monster Ranch)

nVamp (Any bit of it on the newer versions of New Vegas)

AWOP (More likely a faulty compatibly patch from that series)

But the thing is your save file, technically, is a mod. So it might be corrupted. Try unchecking ALL mods (DLCs too, but leave Readius on) to see if the error persists. If it does not, you're in the clear on your game save, and try re-enabling the mods one at a time until the problem comes back.

However, if the problem stays with all your mods (except Readius) off, then you're definitely looking at a corrupted save.

(Went back and re-read your post... looks like you tried that already)
