Slitheres
Someone Please help me. I can not or am unable to use scrolls. In inventory I highlight the scroll and press "E" then when I get back to the game I can not seem to use it. What can be wrong or what am I missing with using of scrolls? I am using a PC to play this game. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I tried searching the forum for answers but could not find anything. Thanks in advance. thesapien
Hopefully someone else who uses a keyboard and mouse will lay it out for you, but as a PC'er with a controller, I would just say that using a scroll is like using a spell. When you select it, you're just wielding it's power in whichever hand you chose or the default hand. So to cast it, cast it like a spell. You can only use it once, then it's gone, too. Poisons and such work the same way on weapons, where you select it, then use on your next strike, and only once. Potions for health, stamina, and such are the easiest in that they are instantly used and stackable.
Jaguarnaut
There is a serious problem with scrolls. You have to press the attack key that the scroll is assigned to and keep it pressed down for a while, it takes like 4 seconds to cast a good one, and during that time you cannot move, and the casting is aborted if you get hit, which you will. SERIOUS THUMBS DOWN to Bethesda on this one and other magic related issues. They have really made it crappy to be a mage. thesapien
Ah, I kind of like those challenges. Why shouldn't getting hit stop casting? Melee attacks can also be interrupted for the non-mage power strikes.

For example : " Scroll of Firestorm" since Firestorm is a Master spell, it take 5 seconds to cast it because it's considered a ritual spell and it's not only the scroll that takes that long to cast. Once you become Master in the destruction magic and you actualy learn to cast that spell, it takes the exact same amount of time . But if you're casting a scroll of ( FireBall) instead, the casting time will be the same as the fireball spell which is fairly quick. Someone Please help me. I can not or am unable to use scrolls. Dave Scrolls are equipped and cast the exact same way as a weapon or spell . Since spells are by default equipped in your left hand automaticly, scrolls will by default be equipped in your left hand, with the exception of ritual spell scrolls which will use both hands .The most common ritual spell scrolls that i've seen were ( Bane of the dead) ( Firestorm ) and ( Call to arms). Once you exit the menu and return to the game, simply press your left hand attack button and the scroll will be cast as a normal spell, then once it's been cast, the scroll is gone . For example, a scroll of FireBall only gives you one FireBall. One little thing i want to add about the scroll of ( Call to arms) if you're not familiar with the spell, it only affects people around you but not yourself. That spell increases Stamina and Health of people around you so in situation where there are friendly NPCs around you and helping you fight, it will make your allies more powerfull but don't use it when you're alone because it will be a waste since it doesn't affect you. It's an Illusion Master spell and it's only fair to say that Illusions cast by yourself will not affect you. Also don't cast it if there are ennemies near you because you will make your ennemies stronger and more diificult to kill lol . Just a hint. That spell affects everyone , not just your friends and same goes for all illusion spells. Well.... now that i think about it , same goes for all spells period, whether it's a defensive spell or an offencive spell they can all affect both your allies and your ennemies. You probably knew that already but i just thought i'd still mention it in case you didn't or in case other people who are new to the game were reading it . FordPerfect
SERIOUS THUMBS DOWN to Bethesda on this one and other magic related issues. They have really made it crappy to be a mage. I think they intentionally borked magic to make shouts more impressive. I don't know that custom spells will be possible, but I expect things like Midas magic and others will make a plethora of excellent spells once the 'creation kit' is released.
