I wonder if anyone can create a new katana mod for fallout new vegas. With matching sheath, and without tsuba version.

To me it looks like sans guard/tsuba and a retexture of the handle and sheath would do the trick. Seems pretty do-able. I'll see if I can make some edits after I run though some previous requests. No "dibs" though if anyone else wants to take care of it before I get the chance.

BTW if your a fan of oriental weapons (well fallout-ized version of), I did a odachi/nodach japanese great sword with some perks. It allows you to switch back and forth from single to two handed use on the fly and displays itself when sheathed with other weapons.

It'd be cool to see, however I'm pretty bad at making models and textures. I'll give a +1 for wanting to see this in the game.

Like you I do not hope or even have the slightest clue in making a model, I tried doing it in blender...I just can't. Though I can draw.

Hi Devin, I can't locate the Odachi in your profile. I'm building a Japanese themed mod for FO3 and I'd be interested

Hey brother :smile:

Yeah I haven't had a chance to post most of my mods to nexus (they'r just vegging in my UL folder), gotta round em up and UL em.

Here is the orginal link for the 2nd beta file (and backup onedrive & google drive), and the relevant forum posts. Pic;

The crib notes version is;

1. You'll get a request to choose your hotkey for switching one to two handed mode,

2. after modding you need to drop the weapon on the ground and pick it up once for it to display the correct, modded model.

3. It has different special attacks depending on what mode it's in (one vs two handed)

4. I think it's automatically added to the players inventory IIRC

Oh, and depending on whether you are using one handed or two handed mode, it will be sheathed on the hip or the back. The are provisions for it unsheath/unequip itself if you draw/equip the same weapon type, but otherwise it will stay sheathed on the back or hip with other weapon types equipped.

Or at least it should :wink: I haven't had time to do any in depth testing

From the pics and the archive name I suspect this to be functional in NV (with NVSE) only.

I'll see what I can do with it in FO3.

Thanks again.

Yeah, fun stuff. I think it should be fully functional, since you don't need the weapon mod hooks for FO3. I'm not completely sure about NVSEs weapon type functions, but I'd assume they'r (or a variation of) in FOSE as well.

You've done a lot for the community, and I for one appreciate your guide and resources. I'd be happy to whip up a FO3 version for you. I'll try and start on it this evening (assuming your not already done with the conversion by then).

That's very nice of you! I won't be able to reach my computer before the week-end. So, very appreciated.

I'd be more than happy to return the favor, so if you need help with stuff I'm comfortable with, please, contact me (my mailbox is spacious ;))
