download with manager or download manually

Which is better, downloading with manager or downloading manually?

With downloading manually, can you break through the 250/255 plugins barrier that you get with downloading with manager?

Another question, when you download manually, can you create a file in the data and downlord the files in the file and still work, instead of download manually right into data? And if you can create new files, can you create more files within the file, meaning, I can create a file and create another file naming what the mod is.

Something like this

Data

Data/Mod File

Data/Mod File/Unlocked Trailers Project

Data/Mod File/Full Dialogue Interface

And so on...

I'm asking this, so that should there be updates, I can find and delete the old files and add the new ones easier.

you seem to confuse downloading and installing

and I do believe you meant to ask in regards to installing mods

so no matter how you install mods , you can't go beyond the limit of plugins

so no , it won't help you installing more mods

you can try to merge small plugins if you must , but you shouldn't really reach the plugin limit anyway

as for installing inside different folders , not really

if you install a mod into a different folder , the game just won't be able to read it

unless of course you want to edit each of the plugins to read from that folder

if you install via NMM , you can update mods quite easily

and you should avoid manual installation of mods unless you really feel confident in what you do , which I don't believe you do , considering your questions

if you want what is in my opinion the best method for installing mods and managing them , go get Mod Organizer

with MO , you install mods to a different folder outside your game's directory , and the way it works helps prevent conflicts , but it does take a bit of learning to start

but in my opinion it's well worth it to use with any game that you can

hope this answers your questions

I use MO for FO4 , and it's working perfectly for me

didn't have any problems so far , so I really recommend you give it a go

for merging plugins , I do remember seeing something about it in the past , but could really find the specific item in question

but you can give this a try http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/20752/?

Crimsomrider is a very smart mod maker , so I trust his work

I'm really quite interested as to how you've managed to reach the plugin limit

If you had to merge mods together , you should only merge really small mods , which is what I assume you have plenty of

so if you have several mods that add a single weapon for example , you could try to merge them into a single plugin , to decrease your plugin count

but you should make sure you understand what you are doing , and be wise with which mods you try to merge , especially if you end up messing a mod , or merging a mod that gets updated often or such

I'm pretty sure that it's going to be a bad idea

maybe if a certain mod has several plugins , but even this doesn't have a universal answer

if you would like to post your load order , it may help identify which mods you may be able to merge , although I can't promise anything

never truly did it myself , as far as i recall

then again , never really got too close to the plugin limit myself
