CBMPrimate666
Hi All I'm pretty new to decent level gaming and completely new to modding. Iv got a HP Laptop, i5 2430m CPU, 6GB RAM and its got Intel 3000 graphics. The game says I can run at medium, but when I do so all I get is real low FPS, like 10-12, sometimes less. Iv tried dropping the antialias down and off completely, that didn't help. Works on low settings with 30-35 while walking round randomly and 25-30 in towns. Im wanting to run it on medium like it says I can but don't know how to do so. Iv updated BIOS, graphics drivers and all that stuff. A friend said overclocking may help but Im also new to that and don't want to damage my laptop. Any advise people? May you all avoid arrows to the mid leg area and prosper in all your Rimming :)
Silvaner
Sorry double post, but also you're not the only one feeling the pain. There are a lot of bugs that cause FPS to drop. Is it a dual core laptop? Have you tried any of the mods that boost FPS such as Skyboost or TESVAL? Also, it may work with some laptops that are designed to be overclocked, but you want to avoid doing that. Extra heat in a cramped laptop is asking for it. You take good caution. Silvaner
Hmm, correct me if I'm wrong, but that's integrated memory. They are usually pretty finicky, esp with new games that are CPU and GPU intensive. Have you tried the lowest settings yet? What are you experiencing with those? Yeah it is a dual core, it's an i5 which has 2 cores but 4 threads so technically it's quad core, Im gonna try Skyboost as heard good things about that...I thought the same for overclocking...Id do it on a desktop but not this laptop...Only just got it about 3 weeks ago and It's the best iv had...Dont wanna ruin it lol Hmm, correct me if I'm wrong, but that's integrated memory. If so yeah it is integrated and ideally I would've like to have a standalone graphics card but I don't think this build can have anything different, and yeah it runs on low but I want medium because it told me I could...Lol...dont like being told I can have one thing but then cant...it's like being told your being given daedric armour and it turns out to be just Steel :)
chanchan05
I have a similar setup, but prefer to run it on low but that's just me. Says I can push it to high, but that's getting lower FPS, around 20s... I can get an average of 35 on low. Besides, I get glaze eyed looking at all the bright colors and beautiful scenery at high. LOL.
Silvaner
Ah I see, sorry for the ignorance. I don't keep up with Intel. The game does a basic benchmark through scripts to determine your settings. It should not be trusted. Keep messing around with the settings, you could for example lower draw distance and keep the medium quality and vice versa. I have a 4 1/2 year old desktop with a 512 mb video card (8800 GT) and can run medium high settings. Trial by fire.
CBMPrimate666
Cheers for the suggestions :) Il keep messing around with it and see what I can...Iv put skyboost on now so lets see if that improves FPS...I may just have to manage with low settings, with all the mods for imrproved textures etc...Im pretty sure it will still look spectacular
CBMPrimate666
Done a load of fiddling and can increase textures to medium, increase draw distance a little bit and have shadows to medium, and decals to medium and I can play it but FPS is about 20-25 so not really workable, close but not quite. So i tried just increasing textures to high(rather than medium) and draw distance slightly improved and I was able to play with FPS of around 25-35 which works well enough for me and looks a bit better than complete low settings. Skyboost made a slight increase too... Anyone recommend any decent mods to make things look better without sacrificing FPS?
