ell46
Sorry if this is the wrong place. I choose to play off line, but when I double click the logo for Skyrim, I always get this little message box that says "Connecting Steam Account *" Can someone please explain what is going on? If it's connecting then I'm not playing off line.
Rooker75
That's just the default text on the box that pops up when loading a game that requires Steam, regardless of which mode Steam is in. If it's in offline mode, that should disappear almost immediately and the Skyrim launcher pops up.
ell46
I have set it to start offline, but that message doesn't disappear quickly and when I finish playing I find that Steam is open in my system tray, so I assumed it had gone online. Rooker75
Yeah, Steam has to be running whenever a game that requires it is playing. Otherwise, I guess the DRM wouldn't work. Clearly it's asking too much that it close itself when the game that requires it also closes and it's no longer needed. Hover your mouse over the Steam icon. It should say if it's offline in the tooltip and the icon itself will have a red bar at the top. I keep it firewalled and have never noticed it trying to access the internet while in offline mode. ell46
Sorry for the late reply, thanks, it does say it's offline.
