Creating builings without loading doors.

Wish to start playing with the CK and attempt making a mod, but I am slightly confused. There are no tutorials that I know of that shows how to go about making a building that has both an interior and exterior and do not need a loading door to enter it.

Where do go to for the wall that has both sides.. like the walls we build with in game and do I build it on the terrain or do I first create the building then place it in the world?

As a total noob to modding I really need help on this and get my dream of the ground. The link below will give you an idea of what I want to create as a mod.

Thanks you. Could you also tell me how I go about the building of this , on the land (like when new settlements is created) or the same way dungeons is created and then attached. If you know of a video to help me it would be swell. Thanks again.

grab one of my mods and examine it...

You will see that most of the walls are ONE sided and have to be placed back to back for inside/outside .

Its a very annoying process but thats how we build in the ck... Dont get confused with the ingame building that has all that stuff premade for you... Its much harder to use the materials in the ck...and the details arent visible so even though you see your walls fine in the ck...when you go ingame to test the mod you will see misaligned walls ,walls not connecting to eachother etc...

Warning do not pop into other locations while you are in the CK with your mod loaded because IF you touch something in another location or copy something from it...then THAT location also attaches to your mod and has to be cleaned after or you will have a lot of issues...

You dont have to look for names of everything...

Use these hot keys...

Find one wall you want to use then...

place it .

then select it...

Now while holding down Alt you can use your mouse wheel to scroll through all the parts .

This applies to everything in the CK.

You can also use Alt+Shift and scroll to change textures if there are any available for the part you have selected..

Also very important.

DO NOT..... edit stuff directly from the object window because it will effect that part for the whole game.

If you want to edit data for something duplicate it and rename it the when the popups appear press NO on the first and YES on the second to create a NEW FORM .

In the CK explore any Commonwealth location that you know have buildings like you are looking for. double click on a wall and the Property will tell you what the wall name is. just search for the prefex.

Damien

you dont have to be in the CK to find a part name...

Its easier to travel the commonwealth and use the console when you see something you like .

In other words... you find something ...then open console and click on it and you should see its ID on your screen...

Copy that id and when you go into the CK use that ID number like so : http://prntscr.com/eaj5o6

This helped me a lot at the beginning when looking for new parts and ideas...

So i traveled in the areas of interest and collected IDs then when i entered the CK i could find all the stuff without having to hop from location to location within the CK and have to load several cells and put my mod in danger...
