Dark face bug with KS Hairdos

Hi,

I'm trying to edit a vanilla NPC's appearance with hair from KS Hairdos - specifically the KS Hairdos Lite mod. Unfortunately, no matter what I do, it seems to give the NPC a dark brown face. I have modded NPCs before with Oldrim and am familiar with the old "ctrl F4" process. This time I tried the following:

1. Esmified KS Hairdos Lite, edited NPC hair, and saved ESP with dependency on KS Hairdos Lite. This seemed to auto-generate the facegen files. I got the dark face bug.

- Used "ctrl F4": dark face bug.

- Used "ctrl F4", and used only facegen files from mymod.esp folder in the Facegen folders in Data. Dark face bug.

- Used "ctrl F4" and used only facegen files from skyrim.esm folder in the Facegen folders in Date. Dark face bug.

2. Have also tried editing KS Hairdos Lite (no NPCs) directly to alter NPC appearance. Saved and auto-generated facegen files. Still dark face bug.

I am using no other mods editing the NPC's appearance.

I'm at a complete loss. I've created custom followers with no problems, so I know the facegen system usually works. This it the first time I've tried to use custom hairstyles though.

Help please?

Hi. I'm new to the whole dark face bug with KS Hairdos Lite. I was wondering if you could post the exact process including file names for exporting facegen with ctrl-F4?

I am a little confused as to the process.

Thank you in advance.

The ctrl-F4 fix is pretty straightforward actually, when you're in the CK, just highlight the name of the NPC whose appearance you're editing and press ctrl F4. However, the current CK for SSE should have automated the facegen process, making the ctrl-F4 fix unnecessary. Are you getting the dark face bug?

Im using SE and came across this Bug yesterday, the solution is easy to fix.

Go into the Creation Kit, load up your Mod as per usual, locate your actor file, click on it and press CTRL + F4, when its finished it will pop up with a message saying "Done" . This is now fixed for me.

However it did mention in the article the following if you intend to share your Mod with others :-

"The mod will now have meshes (.nif files) and textures (.dds files) associated with it that will need to be packaged and uploaded along with the .esp file. Failure to do so will mean that all players who download the mod will have the dark face bug when they use it, even though the problem no longer occurs on the computer the mod was built on"

It's not overly complicated to put those in. You need to find them in the data folder and put them in the same folder structure is all. However I did not know that there was meshes in the facegen until recently so I haven't been shipping those lol.
