Anjelen
Okay, so I'm a new member of most Guilds, but still have to join a Major House. Can't decide which one would suit me, tho. I'm a custom-class Ishtari, focusing on magic (casting & crafting), with a couple of thieving skills. Playing basically as a good guy, even tho I admit I've joined the Thieves Guild (but they're *kind* of honourable, so, that's okay then! lol). House Redoran is a "good" house, but it's so uptight, and primitive... Hlaalu is much more openminded but ever so corrupt, and focuses too much on thieves. Then there's the Telvannis. Great for wizards (then again, doesn't Trebonidus say Mage Guild and Telvanni are arch-enemies?) but their ideologies on slavery and murder are a bit over the top. What do you guys advise? Marxist ßastard
Redorans -- but if you can go without joining a great house, it is my advice that you simply abstain from all of them.
Malchik
Redoran and later Hlaalu (use the glitch) or as MB says, none. You can avoid doing anything too ghastly in Hlaalu. Much harder to do that with Telvanni.
mcstreet
televanni if you wanna be some kinda wizard...just make sure that you finish all of the televanni missions and become archmeister...that way you wont have too many enimies from the missions clashing...also once at full rank you can make amends as many times as you like.coz you're god of the house...nobody cares
Dijas
One of the wonderful things we can learn in Morrowind world is that there aren't entirely good people or entirely bad people (unless those stupid criminals who attack you on sight). Great Houses are a Great example. Hlaalu is corrupt, Redoran is conservator and Telvanni is arrogant and individualist. But also the Guilds have negative ways: Fighters Guild vs. Thieves Guild (I think anyone knows what's up about them); Mages Guild, and their personal disputes (see Ajira vs Galbedir; Ajira vs Ranys Athrys; Ranys Athrys vs Trebonius; Vivec's Mages Guild vs Trebonius; etc.); Mages Guild vs. Telvanni; Imperials vs. Temple. Resuming: you can't be totally good by joining the guilds. Sooner or later you will do something that can trouble your conscience. The Main Quest is itself, in my opinion, the struggle between the bad guys and the not-so-bad-guys, since Nerevar wasn't a saint (christianly speaking) and his followers are nacionalist dunmer radicals who perform their laws under (I'm not sure if that's the correct spelling)*conservatorism* shadow. Anjelen
You're right there, Dijas (and all the rest too, really). Still haven't made up my mind entirely. Think I'm not gonna go for Redoran in any case; they're boring (not necessarily their quests, but their philosophy) and give a primitive/conservative impression. Hlaalu's stronghold near civilisation would be interesting, but then, there's lots of mods with houses and estates anyway, so... I like the fact that Crurio (?) is gay, but that doesn't do it ultimately, I think... So, I'll probably go for Telvanni, became arch-magister, and then show remorse, make amends and guide them on a more benevolent course! Lol! Would I really clash with mage-guild, tho, if I did this? Xeniorn
You won't really clash with them. There are some quests that are against Mage's guild, but none that would make everyone in the Mage's guild hate you or something like that. However, Mage's guild archmage, Trebonious, will order you to kill all Telvanni magisters...
Warring Paranoia
Don't know what to tell you really. Hlaalu is the one I joined although I regreted it a bit. Redoran probably would have had better quests for me. However I have found out one interesting thing. The most powerful people in morrowind are from hilaalu. The duke of Morrowind is infact from Hlaalu. The king is also from Hlaalu, and so on and so on. [Actually I just assume the king is because his first name is Hlaalu.] But I don't really know what to tell you. I find their armored guards to be the most fashionable of the three houses. And also I think their architecture is the better of the three houses. Also the strong hold is most conveniantly placed. Hell hlaalu would even be the most successful among the three houses as they come into the new age. However I probably would have been more satisfied with redoran quests. And personally I think the telvanni are just plain weird ....
Kay-z
me personally i join as many as possible because the more you join the more benefits and rewards thieves guild is good because of the bounty thing and u get pretty good rewards from all the guilds.. Akominatus
I've played Hlaalu (on X-Box) and Redoran (on PC). In terms of missions and plot development, Redoran are the more interesting house. They are also, if you are a strict role-player, probably more 'moral' than the other two.
