NukaColaPrime
So if you've tried Skyrim Redone (SkyRe) or its successor Perkus Maximus (PerMa), then you probably know that the pickpocket and lockpicking skill trees get condensed into the "Fingersmith" skill tree which governs both skills and levels up accordingly, giving the mods room to add a Survival/Pathfinding tree thats designed to synergize with Frostfall and similar survival oriented mods, as well as a few minor perks of its own, which itself levels from visiting new locations and just general wandering. Well I thought to myself, why can't other tree's get condensed, especially tree's that don't have that much depth on their own even with SkyRe or PerMa. The first two trees that sprung to mind were the One handed and Two Handed skill tree's, as their basic principals were almost entirely identical. One could then use the free'd up tree for say an Unarmored for mages/monks which would help give a reason to accept the armorless restriction perk of the Alteration tree, and what little benefit there is to all magic wearing no armor in skyrim. Another point that hit me was potentially the Armor skills of light and heavy as again they have incredibly identical perks, which would be a bit more of a difficult endeavour (maybe) as one lies in the "theif" third of the skills menu and the other in the "warrior", still the merge would open yet another slot for a creative new skill type and potentially if one merged the theoretical unarmored tree into this that would allow for 2 empty skill trees to be utilized by whomever is creative enough to fill the gaps.
