SchwarzwindSin
I've recently purchased Skyrim via Steam and was highly intrigued with how many mods there are for this incredible game. After some Google searching, I've read about how NMM is a highly comprehensive way to download, manage and install Skyrim mods. I created a Nexus account and was eager to download NMM right away. But I see the latest version requires something called .Net Framework 4.6... which comes automatically with Windows 10... which is an OS I'd rather avoid (I use Windows 8.1).Is there a stable Net Framework 4.6 for/compatable with Win 8.1 available for download? Are there any older versions of NMM I can download that doesn't require this specific Net Framework? And if there is a Win 8.1 version, would it be possible to easily undo the Framework update if I encountered problems after installing it?Sorry if these are dumb questions; I'm not really tech-savvy, so please bear with me. x__x
Algabar
.Net Framework 4.6 isn't limited to Windows 10. I'm actually running it on Win 7 - so 8.1. shouldn't be a problem. To get NMM up and running, just make sure you have installed .Net Framework and let it update itself. Once you installed .Net Framework, install NMM and everything should be good. TBH, I never even read the system requirements for NMM. Downloaded, installed, worked. You can try that too, but if you want to do it the "correct" way, install .Net Framework first. .Net Framework is free sowftware by Microsoft, that's needed for many applications. It's very common, nothing special and nothing to worry about. You can download it directly from Microsoft. Just google ".Net framework download" or the like. Don't download from third party sites - get it directly from Microsoft. Like every other Software, .Net Framework and its updates can be uninstalled, if desired. Chances that you'll run into trouble are very low, though. After all its almost a standard part of Windows....

I do believe I have the .Net Framework, but the version is below that of the 4.6 that is stated to be a requirement for NMM. I can be paranoid about anything having to do with me and electronics, so I was a little fearful about screwing something up major on my machine if I didn't follow through with everything properly. Your reassurance and guidance is most helpful and thank you kindly for the reply, Algabar. I will give it a shot.
SchwarzwindSin
I've checked Microsoft's site and there are two types of .Net Framework 4.6? One is online web installer and the other is offline. Which one do I need?
AngelDeath82
Either version will work. The difference is that the Offline installer will download a large file, then install everything directly, whereas the online web installer will download a small file, then download the requisite components during the install process.
