Alisu
This probably sounds utterly newbie thing to ask but, can I make a rudimentary mod with SSEEdit without needing the CK? I've been dying to try making myself a sorting mod (basically renaming items, mostly potions, to sort better) since the once available are a bit too heavy handed to my liking. Can I make mod from ground up just with SSEEdit? Or, edit one I use to reduce potion weights to 0.1? I assume I'd need to make both changes in same mod anyway? I'm not enthusiastic to install the new CK since it wants the bethesda launcher thingy.
ThinkGreen
Hi there!First, yes ssedit can do it.. but you should make it with the ck instead. honestly its pretty simple to install the ck! You dont even need to keep the launcher after if you dont want.Download the launcher, then in the menu of the launcher, there is CK for skyrim, click to install it (its small!) , then, use the ck! You can use it offline btw  1- In the CK, fo to the top left corner and click 'load plugin' the choose only the main game's esm and other DLC's if you need to mod stuff in them.. if not, just select the skyrim.esm, then load. 2- Then wait for it to be completly launched (after choosing the plugins it can take a minute or 2 ..,) 3- Then, create your enpty plugin before anything, or else the changes wont be applied! You need to create your 'esp' plugin first. Just click 'save', and write the name you want for your mod. ..Thats it! And next time you launch the CK, you tick the skyrim.esm again, and then you tick your mod and while your mod is highlighted/selected, press 'active plugin' . Good luck and take your time  Edited February 22, 2017 by ThinkGreen
Deleted3897072User
Yes, you can do it in SSEEdit without using the CK. Load up skyrim.esm, choose the records you want to modify and use "Copy as override into ...". You get the option for "New File" and then you can give it a name. cdcooley
The SSEEdit team explicitly says you shouldn't try to create mods without the CK. There are many things SSEEdit doesn't do and any mod you would create without the CK can potentially have serious flaws. But in this particular case where you are only editing names and weights of existing items you can do it. Start as OldMansBeard said by copying the records into your new file and then edit them. And you should NOT try to edit your previous mod from the original Skyrim. All older mods should be run through the CK before being used with the Special Edition. SSEEdit can't do the conversion. Alisu
In this particular case, if I currently have mod that sets every potion weights to 0.1, can I just edit the names in that one? (not done by me, but I guess if I edit it for my personal purpose it should be ok) Edit: to clarify, the mod I'd be editing is SSE one. Made with the new CK I assume. cdcooley
If it's already an SSE mod then editing the names with SSEEdit is fine.
