weiss412
Lets say I download a prewar settlement. I then open the game and mess around, pick things up, break things. When I later restart the game, will the prewar settlement be exactly as it was when I downloaded it?
WastelandAssassin
what exactly are you changing in the game?I mean , if you use a pre war sanctuary , and you scrap parts of that settlement , then obviously you removed parts of this area , so it's changed however , you never actually change the areas of the game through story or suchso I can't think of any way to mess up an area while playing in other areas do clear up your question , if you want a more definite answer though
weiss412
Appreciated, WastelandAssasin. Lets say I downloaded this mod http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/22145/? Then I picked up things from the houses, messed around, broke what I could break. Then next time I'd play Fallout. I wouldn't choose "continue", but rather "start new game". When I start a new game, will the mod be exactly like it was when I first installed it?
WastelandAssassin
oh , so that's what you're asking when you start a new game , all mods will be in their original stateso you mess around in game as much as you wantjust make sure you don't mess with the mod's files , so you won't mess something up in game
weiss412
Thanks! I guess this means that I cannot activate a mod in-game. In order to get a mod up and running, I would have to start a new game, I suppose? I am going to use FO4 for memorization techniques. I have just come to Concord for the first time today. WastelandAssassin
I'm not sure I understand your questionthere is a difference between "in game" and "on an existing save" you can't activate mods while the game itself is running (not sure how the mods function for FO4 works , but I'm using a mod manager for mods)even so , you can't activate mods while playing , even if you can do so via the main menu of the game however , you can activate a mod and then load an existing save fileit may not always be recommended , and it may not always work , but you can do so It's always best to try and install all the mods that you want to play with , then start a new gameIf you want to test a mod , you should get an alternate start mod , just so you can skip the start of the game , and get straight to the testinghowever , for a full playthrough , it's best to not change the load order once you've already started playing with that character , as it can cause all sorts of problems hope this answers it :)
damanding
It's also best to fully exit the vault before installing mods on a brand new game.
