NyteSpyder
Hey guys. So today, out of nowhere, my saves started refusing to get past the loading screens and would instead crash. At first I figured it was a mod error, but after disabling mods left and right to try to solve the problem, nothing worked. So then I just tried disabling all my mods to see if that really was the issue. Unfortunately, it still wouldn't load. So then I tried several different things. I loaded other saves,I reinstalled Skyrim,I reinstalled steam,I checked for duplicates of skyrim.esm in my plugins.txt ,I validated the cache several times,I downloaded anti-crash mods and safeload, etcI even changed my uGridstoLoad around a few times Finally, the only thing even brought me into the game was doing "coc qasmoke" from the title screen. From there however, I couldn't load any other saves, but I could coc to whiterun from the test room, however the game would crash again within seconds. I'm pretty stumped, because I don't really know of any possible things I could do. All my other games work fine, so I'm inclined toward thinking It's just an error with Skyrim but at this point I have no idea. specs: Gigabyte GTX 1070ASUS Z-170A MotherboardIntel i-5 6500 @ 3.20 GHzKingston 8gb DDR4 ram
Algabar
I even changed my uGridstoLoad around a few timesThat's something you should never do - unless you're absolutely certain you know exactly what you're doing. Problem is: Skyrim won't load a save game, which was made at a higher ugridstoload value than the current one. Example: You played with ugridstoload=7 and saved your game. Now you change back ugridstoload to the default value of 5 in your Skyrim.ini. Result: The save game will crash on load. At least some of the crashes you experience may simply be caused by this. There is a way to change ugrids without losing the save game. It's not 100% foolproof though. Look at this thread, first post: https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/526550-how-to-reset-ugrids-to-load-to-lower-setting/ Generally, it is not recommended to change ugridstoload values. Just leave them at their default values. Bad things can happen, if you raise ugridstoload: Events starting, before you even get to them, more crashes, even flying mammoths (not a joke!). There are a lot of things to tweak, but don't touch ugrids.
