Wood Elf - Good Or not?

Personally, I'm not a fan of the Bosmer. This is due to two issues, both of which deal with my personal preferences. For one, I don't like their size. They're too small. I'm small, and I don't particularly enjoy being small. So, I play big characters. It's a classic example of escapsim. Secondly, I just can't deal with being of the same race as Fargoth. Not to turn this into a Fargoth-hate-thread, but the males of the Bosmer race are insipid. They're horrible. I refuse to deal with it, so I don't play them.

Everyone loves me.

I usually play a regular, male breton. If I could stick a few [several] (dozen) extra pounds on him and stick him in a monk robe with a bowl cut and a wooden quarterstaff, I'd be a very happy man.

EDIT

Oh, right, the wood elves. Umm... I suppose they're alright. However, male woodelves, regardless of whom, have this horrible, horrible voice acting that makes me wish to take out my sword and slice their tongue out. Failing that, I'd like to throttle them.

First, I'm a newbie too. But I'm also a wood elf. I think that the statement of your friend was rather harsh and also rather, no it definitely was wrong. There is no character who sucks. This is an RPG, you play a role. It all depends on what you- no, what your wood elf wants to do. Are you following me?

Of course there are great differences between the characters. Some have better performance in one area while others in another. Some are good fighters, some good mages, etc... The point, as stated expressly in the manual, is to choose a race that best fulfills your wishes for the game. You pick a race that YOU want this new person to be. Of course they can't do everything as well- but that is a challenge of the game. Like Orc mages- not the smartest way to go, but nonetheless possible.

Instead of listening to a friend who has his own, exterior wishes when he plays morrowind, choose your character and see if his story pulls you in. This is the whole basis of these games, and your character is just as good as any other. Just don't expect him/her to perform the same way in all the same situations.

Just because someone else was not successful with a wood elf does not mean that you will not be. See if you like it, make the decision for yourself. For instance, my wood elf is not great and powerful, but he can hit targets with his bow that are miles and miles away. So he prefers to fight at a distance. Close contact is not his favorite thing to do, so he is wary of missions with a lot of close contact, brings a lot of regain health, etc... and sometimes just waits until he is more powerful to fulfill the mission.

The game is OPEN. Completely OPEN. Make your choice, and before giving up on it, find out what its strengths and weaknesses are. If you decide you really wanted to follow someone else's story go find them...

(Also note that I don't speak of the characters as "I." That is the theme here. There are not coming out of the game to speak on the forums. You are. Make that distinction and you may understand more...)

Hope I helped... :D

Well, i on one of mine i am at the demigod level, the problem is you can be a good fighter but up close... it's just no good, critical hits are a good companian but after that... run, after about 3 reloads any NPC is defeatable you just have to approach it right.

The biggest problem i have with wood elves is their given powers, i mean like dunmer have anscestor guardian and all but the bosmer only has beast toungue(if the level of the creature even is 5 i've made it work once. and the resist common disease, which becomes bl**dy useless during the game that's the only problem.

i chose the meanest looking bosmer face so i have no problem with appearance

I'm playing an Breton male because I like it to play some sort of wizard. But I've tried also to play as a woodelf, honestly I think they are worse than other races, because they are small and their lack of combat skills. On the other hand they are great archers because of their marksman skill.

The best character is still the dark elf I guess, because they are like alrounders. You can play almost any class with them.

Look, you generally have to pick the character best suited for the background of the way you want to play the game. For example:

Warrior:

1. Imperial

2. Nord

Mage:

1. Dark Elf

2. High Elf

3. Breton

Thief:

1. Khajit

2. Wood Elf

That's generally it...
