Zero dammage bow and arrow setup.

Ok. Well I have learned how to edit the weapons. Though I still need to make the custom look of the "utility bow" and make the new looking blunted arrows.

 

Also, I still need to figure out a way to keep the bow from triggering a battle with the target. Because the idea, they aren't supposed to know they have been hit

If you follow this guide: http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=6677 but ignore all the stuff about new meshes and textures and you will have a start. I am just learning this stuff myself but I can see how this tutorial can give you the beginning steps. Like find an enchanted bow in there, copy it and change the enchantment to paralyze and zero the damage. then a copy of the practice arrows and do the same enchantment. You might also want to consider making a new version of the enchantment and make the timer longer.

@Sunnie, If he creates a new version of an existing weapon he can change the damage modifier to 0, and practice arrows have no damage already. And all that can be done now without the CK. Also In the Tytanis mod there are enchanted arrows, so i know adding an enchantment to them is possible.

Actually creating it wont be hard at all. There's already bows with Paralyze. I just made a copy of one then changed the damage to 0. Made a copy of its enchantment and changed the duration to 60 instead of 6. made a copy of an unenchanted bow forge recipe and changed it to the new enchanted bow. recipe for the arrows. done. done done... I just have no idea where "dunArcherPracticeArrowProjectile" is so I can add the enchantment to it.

 

Anyway I did all that from what i learned in that tutorial mainly, the rest was snooping about. Now for the OP to do it as its his idea....

 

It actually shouldn't be too hard at all to create a paralyze arrow mod. The effect should be able to be added to the arrows in Tesnip, I could probably whip one up in about 1-2 minutes.

Just a thought here, but since we have at least a few people that know what to do, and are at least interested enough to post on this thread..... Could we do a little "team" or colaberation mod?

 

I don't know of anyone comming up with this mod idea before me... though if they did they deserve full credit.

So I make no claims to owning this mod.

 

Perhaps Jet could be the mod author, and anyone else who adds something to this mod can get their name put on it somehow?

 

I'm really not good at this nodding stuff, but with all the ideas we have, I feel as though this mod would continue to grow and expand, and hopefully at some point I would be able to contribute. We really have 2 types of mods now that we are talking about. The utility bow, and the revamped or tactical archery.

 

I'd love to see these ideas take off. I think we could get a small group of modders and idea maker upers and really male something out of this

I dont want to be the mod author lol... I have 9 mods here as is. plus its your idea. lol Thanks anyway but it would feel too much like stealing your thunder. I will make a new arrow nif with the safety tip. as well as redo a bow to be slightly smaller with a different texture.

 

Ashfyr can you please explain how to get the enchantment on the arrows. I tried adding enchantments but when i copy a subrecord and paste it the record is no longer working. I dont know squat about hex values and creating the subrecord is beyond my knowledge. I did manage to make an arrow have the magic affect from a spell but no spell to go with the flashy lights.

I tried hex editing with Tesnip, yet it didnt work. The arrows dont do damage or make people hostile, yet the paralyze enchant doesnt activate. maybe have to wait a couple days for the CK

Well, seems like I'm on the same page as you guy. I can make the bow, and the arrows. With no damage, and keep the hit from triggering an attack. That's the easy part though.

 

What I can't do is get effects on the arrows. Without that part this mod is worthless in my oppinion.

Also, the 3d modeling I haven't even touched yet. I figured I would get the function down before I worried about apperance.

 

I appologize if I seem like I'm trying to push this mod off on other people. I just have very little time at home to work on this. So I felt bad trying to claim this as my own when others had to hold my hand through it, or do parts of it for me.

 

So I guess I'll author the mod, but I'll give credit to everyone who helped or gave advice, and I really appreciate it.

I've been trying for some time now to add (real) effects to ammo, which I why I made the statement I did earlier. I have a hunch that when the toolset is released, there will be all sorts of possibilities that we are just not aware of because we don't know what the engine is set up to handle. I have a feeling that scripting will come into play here, though I really don't know yet.

I cant believe they didn't add magic arrows in this game. they are a common fantasy element! The trap darts are in both projectile and ammo and there are poison versions in game but no poison version in the skyrim.esm. So yeah i am thinking it will require the toolset too.
