Shuk
So I just found out that there's this really cool peace treaty negotiation aspect of the game that I had to entirely miss because I finished the civil war questline. Anyone else really annoyed by this? It looks like it really ties the narrative together, and uniting for the Dragonborn seems like a solid way to put the story forward. Any way I can console in a way to do the quest or download a save? (I'll just have to "pretend" that I took over Windhelm after).
chanchan05
It won't change a thing. Its just a peace treaty to not attack Whiterun for the moment. You make them exchange a couple of Holds and that's it. I joined the Imperials after this and the quests went on as normal.

I had no idea that I could defend Whiterun in a battle. I so wanted to just as a resident hero. Thus, I was forced to play again and join the Imperials even though I never would had otherwise.
